A new test system for detecting COVID-19 strains has been registered in the Russian Federation

The new test system, which was created at the Federal Medical and Biological Agency to determine COVID strains from Alpha to Delta, has received a registration certificate, according to the FMBA website.

The SARS-CoV-2 VOC v. 2 test is able to detect the most significant genetic lines of the virus in two hours by polymerase chain reaction.

It is noted that the invention is relevant, since in Russia in recent months there has been a rapid spread of the line of the Indian strain “Delta”, which has become dominant. It is characterized by high contagiousness and a shorter incubation period. The new test system also determines the British Alpha strain, the South African Beta variant and the Brazilian Gamma mutation.

The AmpliTest has already been introduced into production and is ready for serial production at the FMBA production site.

Earlier, a Brazilian strain of the coronavirus “Gamma” was detected in Russia, while we are talking about isolated cases of this coronavirus mutation.

According to the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova, almost 70% of cases of coronavirus infection detected in Russia since the beginning of July fall on the Indian delta strain.
