An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 occurred in Transbaikalia

The US Geological Service reported that an earthquake of magnitude 5.5 was recorded in the territory of Transbaikalia in the Russian Federation.

The tremors were recorded at 17: 01 UTC (20.01 Moscow time) 55 kilometers south-west of the village of Novaya Chara. The hearth was located at a depth of 10 kilometers.

According to the service, information about the victims and destruction was not received.

Earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 4.9 occurred near the Kuril Islands. Its epicenter was located 310 kilometers northeast of the city of Kurilsk, which is home to about 1,700 people.
