Attention to the values of eco-culture. An extraordinary congress of the UOC was held in Moscow

On June 10, on the eve of the celebration of the Day of Russia, Moscow hosted the XIX Extraordinary Congress of the All-Russian Society for Nature Protection, which was attended by representatives of the Presidential Administration, the Government, the Federation Council and the State Duma of the Russian Federation, federal and regional environmental ministries and departments, well-known state and public figures.

The delegates of the congress were the heads of the regional branches of the VOPP. The event was held by chairman of the Central Council of the society, UN Goodwill Ambassador Vyacheslav Fetisov.

“I am pleased to welcome you, dear colleagues, to the XIX Extraordinary Congress of the society. Today we have to make a number of decisions that will determine the development of the All-Russian Society for Nature Protection for the next decade and subsequent years. The future of our children and grandchildren, the future of the planet Earth, depends on the success of the VOPP and the development of cooperation with international environmental organizations and the entire environmental community. Together, we can and must turn the WOO into the most influential environmental organization in the world, ” he said in his address.

Greeting to the delegates and participants of the Congress from the Head of state Vladimir Putin read by Ruslan Edelgeriev, Adviser to the President of Russia on Climate Change . The head of the country noted the important role of the VOP in the development of the environmental social movement in the country, the consolidation of the efforts of the state, society and business in ensuring the environmental well-being of Russians, and wished them success.

“Today, the VOOPF rightfully enjoys a significant authority both in Russia and abroad. With its noble mission, it unites a large number of sensitive, caring people, closely cooperates with state authorities, scientific, voluntary volunteer organizations. The Society conducts multi-faceted expert and research activities, implements significant educational and charitable projects, and pays untiring attention to promoting the values of ecological culture, primarily among young people, ” Vladimir Putin said in his address.

Year of ecosystem restoration

Continuing his speech, Ruslan Edelgeriev supported Vyacheslav Fetisov’s initiative to declare 2022 the Year of Ecosystem Restoration in Russia and expressed his readiness to provide all-round assistance to the company’s activities.

The delegates of the congress were also addressed by a member of the Federation Council Alexey Mayorov, Adviser to the President of Russia and Chairman of the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights Valery Fadeev, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian FederationMurad Kerimov, Head of Rosvodresursov Dmitry Kirillov. Greetings were received from the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, President of the Russian Geographical SocietySergei Shoigu, Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation Alexandra Kozlova.

An important part of the work of the congress was the approval of the new version of the Charter of the VOOP. During the voting, the delegates confirmed the powers of Vyacheslav Fetisov, re-electing him for a new term as chairman of the Central Council of the All-Russian Society for Nature Protection. His deputies, members of the Central Council and the Presidium of the Central Council of the VOPP, the Control and Audit Commission were also elected. By the decision of the supreme management body of the company, the People’s Artist of Russia was elected to the post of Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the VOOP Alexander Rosenbaum.
