Course for courses. How are the military trained in the UK?

The interest of States in the army and military training of the country’s personnel is growing again. The United Kingdom is a major player on the world stage, so it is useful to know how specialists are trained there for law enforcement agencies. ru & nbsp;I understood what are the features of the military training process in this country. It turned out that the British take an extremely responsible approach to the formation of their power structures, pay attention to both the training of young personnel and the retraining of people who have been serving for a long time.

The road and the air are young

There are two categories of officers in the British Armed Forces-career officers and short-term service officers. The first are trained according to the full program, the second-according to the reduced program, which lasts 6-12 months, depending on the type of armed forces.

In the last decade, the number of short-term courses for career officers has also been increasing. This way it turns out to more effectively maintain the level of training of active officers. On the other hand, this is a consequence of the reduction of the UK military budget and the constant improvement of military equipment and tactics. All officers undergo retraining and advanced training courses at military educational institutions of the armed forces.

Basic training of cadets, where they are instilled with basic military and special skills and knowledge, is carried out at the Sandhurst Military School. Future officers of all branches of the armed forces are trained there for seven months. Cadets study military topography, weapons and armored vehicles, military tactics and strategy, as well as other specialized sciences.

If we are talking about the Air Force, here the only basic military school in which pilot officers are trained is the Cranwell Air Force Aviation College. The recruitment of candidates for it is carried out at the recruitment center of the air force. The selection is carried out by 2 commissions within three days. The first commission is responsible for the areas of “piloting” and “navigation”, the second selects engineers, specialists in technology and navigation.Applicants are checked for their health, physical training, level of education and psychological compliance through special tests.

Higher level

The Royal, Imperial and National Defense Colleges train top-level officers to work in the headquarters of the armed forces and the central leadership of the Ministry of Defense. Also, the current senior management personnel are undergoing retraining in the military-theoretical and military-technical profile at the Shrivenham Military Science College.

In the UK, there are special military reserve formations that also need to be staffed with officers. This problem is solved with the help of special courses of non-military training. For this purpose, non-military primary training is conducted in secondary schools. The next stage is the universities of 19 colleges and universities, which are supervised by special committees of military education.
