Flood relief in Germany

The German authorities continue to eliminate the consequences of the largest flood in recent years, the search for the dead continues.

Heavy rains hit Germany, because of this, the Ar and Moselle rivers, as well as several small rivers, burst their banks. Last week, the regions most affected in Germany were North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, as well as Saxony and Bavaria. The main impact of the disaster fell on the west of the country and the communes on the Rhine and its tributaries. Entire districts remain without electricity, the gas supply system is destroyed. At least 170 people were killed, hundreds are still missing. More than three dozen settlements were destroyed.

The German government has decided to allocate 200 million euros as urgent assistance to eliminate the consequences of the devastating flood, another 200 million euros will be provided by the federal lands.
