Garden of memory of scientists. The action was held in the Botanical Garden of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow

The ecological and patriotic action “Garden of Memory” was held in the Botanical Garden in Moscow. It was dedicated to the scientists who worked during the Second World War to bring victory closer. The memorial trees were planted by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia and the Knowledge Corporation of Rosatom, academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences, young scientists from the nuclear industry and Victory Volunteers.

The first Garden in memory of Scientists, celebrating the contribution of Soviet and Russian researchers, appeared on the territory of the Botanical Garden of the Russian Academy of Sciences named after N. V. Tsitsin, one of the largest in Europe. Founded in 1945, the Botanical Garden itself has become a symbol of Victory. Here they remembered the “fighters of the invisible front”, to whom they dedicated “green monuments” in the form of apple trees and hydrangeas.

“We all understand that without the past, there is no future. And it is necessary to remember the people who won the Great Victory. Today, taking part in the action “Garden of Memory”, I remembered a worthy person with whom I was familiar, ” said Elena Druzhinina. & mdash; His name was Babkin George Sergeyevich. He was a front-line intelligence officer, and in the post-war years devoted his life to science. An inquisitive scientist, Georgy Sergeyevich created the Faculty of Romano-Germanic Philology at Tyumen State University. And he chose the patriotic education of young people as his life mission. You can’t forget such great people.”

Speaking about the contribution of scientists to the victory, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yuri Balega In turn, he also stressed that the very next day after the declaration of war, three commissions were formed within the framework of the USSR Academy of Sciences at once: on naval problems, on geology and geography, on medicine. “During this period, the Academy of Sciences has developed 200 projects, the contribution of scientists to the achievement of the Great Victory is enormous,” the academician noted.

“Perpetuating the memory of the heroism and selfless work of scientists is our responsibility. The next generations should understand how much people gave for the Victory and independence of our country. If you look at the statistics of the volunteers who went to the front in the first days of the war, you can see that among them there were a lot of representatives of the scientific intelligentsia, while only one third of them returned from the front. Today we remember the patriotism of scientists, including Caesar Kunikov, who, as you know, was the commander of the legendary landing on Malaya Zemlya. This is AndrewBochvar, who developed many alloys used in military equipment, Boris Paton, the creator of armor welding technology, and many others. We must remember their labor feat.
