Units of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation together with the anti-aircraft missile regiment have begun exercises in the Crimea, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the press service of the Black Sea Fleet, Russian Su-24M, Su-24MR, Su-30SM, AN-26, Be-12 and helicopters will practice combat missions in the area of intensive aviation flights, maneuvers will take place near the airfields of the naval aviation and air defense aircraft of the Black Sea Fleet.
The training events, which are held in accordance with the combat training plan, will involve about 15 units of aviation equipment, as well as about 50 units of weapons and military and special equipment.
The purpose of the exercise was to work out the coherence of the calculations and batteries of the regiment in the organization of the defense of important infrastructure facilities.
It is worth noting that the training is taking place against the background of news that the American missile destroyer Laboon is being sent to the Black Sea to jointly conduct operations to ensure maritime security with its allies and NATO partners.
Earlier, the Russian Embassy in Washington called the participation of US B-52H bombers in the maneuvers of NATO countries in the Baltic Sea a provocation.
