Not for long from afar. The US has shown the technology of a massive strike on Russia

Air Force (Air Force) The United States and the American corporation Lockheed Martin showed a video of tests of C-17A Globemaster III and EC-130J Super J aircraft dropping pallets with AGM-158B Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile-Extended Range (JASSM-ER) cruise stealth missiles. Taking into account the capabilities of these missiles, the new technology will allow for massive missile strikes against strategic objects in Russia.

These tests took place in August at the White Sands Missile Range (New Mexico). Mock-ups of JASSM-ER missiles were launched from the C-17A transporter and the EC-130J Super J aircraft. The latter is a modification of the C-130J transport vehicle, designed for carrying out communication operations. This bomber is considered universal, so the concept of application is often changed for it.

During the exercises, the pallets with mock-ups of missiles were dropped with parachutes, and after stabilization they separated from the carriers. At the beginning of the exercise, the transporters received the coordinates of the drop point, after the release, a new target for the strike was determined, which required re-targeting of the missiles.

In the coming months, Lockheed Martin and the military will conduct additional tests, and at the end of the year they will test the JASSM-ER missiles themselves from the C‑130J transport vehicle.

In the comments to the video, it is reported that the Rapid Dragon concept turns aircraft into deadly platforms for cruise missiles, which will complement the strike power of tactical fighters and strategic bombers. It is noted that the use of flights allows you to strike from a larger number of airfields and hit a larger number of targets. & laquo;Rapid Dragon: bringing more mass to the fight & raquo;, —says the & nbsp; pathos caption to the video.

Western experts report that the shown method of using aircraft can be useful in a situation of war with an enemy that has large territories and large armies, for example, with China or Russia.

The US military in 2016 introduced the concept of “flying arsenals”. The military assumed that the B-1B Lancer, B-52H, C-130 or C-17 GLobemaster III bombers could be converted into “arsenals”. After the modernization, the aircraft will receive various sets of weapons. The flying arsenal will be located at a distance and launch the desired type of ammunition on command from a fighter or drone that will act as spotters.

Experiments with transport aircraft in the quality of rocket trucks under the Rapid Dragon program began last year. The military installed an autonomous system on them on pallets with roller lowering and rolling back. In May, the MC-130J Commando II transport aircraft was tested as a cruise missile carrier.

In June, it was also reported that the MC-130J Commando II aircraft of the US Air Force dropped a cargo simulating a pallet with JASSM-ER cruise stealth missiles.

In June 2020, American publications reported that the AGM-158B JASSM-ER missile is capable of reaching Russia without entering the area of airspace controlled by S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems. It was claimed that this is enough to attack the main strategic objects of Russia in the Arctic and parts of Siberia.
