Mother Australia. How does the wife of a Russian priest live in the kangaroo country

Until 2010 Leah I lived in St. Petersburg and did not even imagine that I could move to the other side of the world. But everything was changed by her meeting with a priest from Australia, who flew to Russia for the congress of Orthodox youth abroad. A descendant of Russian emigrants called the girl down the aisle and took her to himself. With him, she became Mother Leah, a mother of three children and a real Australian. The wife of priest Alexander Paramonov shared her impressions of life in this distant country with AiF. ru.

On snake Street, in the house of lizards

In 2009, on the May holidays, Leah and her faithful friends were on a trip to the holy places, which began with a visit to Murom. There, unmarried St. Petersburg girls bowed to the Orthodox patrons of the family and marriage, St. Peter and Fevronia. And just a couple of months later, Leah, who speaks English well, was unexpectedly invited to a meeting with a delegation of Orthodox foreigners in St. Petersburg. She was asked just to keep up the conversation, and in the end she met her future husband there. As if the Murom saints really helped her to start a family and at the same time get to the end of the world.

A priest from Australia, Alexander Paramonov, whose ancestors emigrated after the revolution, immediately noticed a beautiful girl. In the conversation, he asked her to show the city, after that they talked for about six months on Skype, and without any romance. They were just interested in a friend with a friend. And then, after much thought, she accepted his invitationin & nbsp; guests for & nbsp; New Year’s holidays 2010 After that, Alexander also flew to the girl in St. Petersburg, where they eventually got engaged. And the wedding was already held across the ocean, in the Gold Coast city, in which Leah has been living since then. Now she is an Orthodox mother and a mother of three children. But even after more than ten years, Leah perfectly remembers her first meeting with a distant continent.

The priest’s wife runs her blog on Instagram, called “Mother AustraLia”.

On her first day in Australia, Leah was with Alexander at a cafe with an open courtyard, where she experienced a shock. It was caused by an unfamiliar creature that suddenly looked out from behind the interlocutor. It seemed to the girl a monster, and she jumped up on a chair with a cry. But already in the next moment, she was struck by the lack of reaction from others.

“Everyone turns around, looks at me in surprise, sees the animal, and continues to calmly drink their beer,” Lia recalls with a smile. — Alexander also said that everything is fine, you don’t have to shout like that. As it turned out, it was a water dragon. He and & nbsp;looks like a real dragon & nbsp; & mdash; green, with thorns on back, with & nbsp; an impressive mouth. Only it is & nbsp; small, the size of a chameleon. There they walk along the streets, like cats in Russia. If you don’t bully them, then they won’t touch you either, so everyone is used to them.

Then she met another Australian animal, about which they tell terrible stories like those where they talk about toilets infested with snakes. Leah calls them & nbsp;greatly exaggerated, although & nbsp; admits  & mdash;they have some truth in them. Most Australians live in private homes and therefore in the toiletit is indeed possible to meet an uninvited guest, but this happens very rarely. Leah herself has seen snakes only a few times all the time in Australia, and then from afar, in the wild. Basically, such meetings happen there in the hikes outside the city, where you just need to take precautions, which all the locals know about.

And here she finds spiders in the house often, but mostly they are not dangerous, especially large ones. Only once she was shown a terribly poisonous small spider, which even the locals looked at as a curiosity. Also, small lizards crawl into the house, but they are cute and not dangerous. Leah’s children love to play with them. Perhaps the biggest fear of Australians is sharks. Because of them, many do not even swim in the ocean, although it is quite safe on the beaches during the day. There are nets under the water, and behind its surfacethey are watching. According to Leah, the last time a shark killed a person was a long time ago. Although sometimes they cripple people, especially surfers. But all & nbsp;Leah and & nbsp;her & nbsp; husband without fear began to master surfing, which is famous for the Gold Coast. & nbsp;but crocodiles are not found in them because of the climate. To reach them, you need to go far to the north, where it is much warmer. There toothy reptiles live even in salt water, so you can’t swim anywhere. But the biggest danger in Australia is the ocean, in which people often drown.

A post with a story of a Russian TV channel that showed a Russian family from Australia.

Adventurers without central heating

Along with the nature of Australia, Leah was very surprised by the people living there. The descendants of post-revolutionary emigrants, who are many among her acquaintances, seemed to her even more Russian than here. They love Russia, honor traditions, celebrate holidays and use old words that are little used by us. The priest’s wife mostly sees them at the church and at a private Russian school, which the Paramonov children attend once a week. By the way, so that they know their native language, it is customary to speak Russian at home in their family.

The social circle of Leah, who works in the financial structure, includes many ordinary Australians. She also discovered a lot of unexpected things in them when she learned to understand. At first it was difficult, because they speak their own dialect with an abundance of slang and they also swallow words very much. According to Leah, they hardly even open their mouths in a conversation, but they are very open themselves.

“Australians are in many ways similar to Russians, by which I mean here all Russian-speaking Belarusians and Ukrainians. — & nbsp;says Leah. & mdash; They are so & nbsp; open. Only Russians become like this when they get to know a person well, and the Australians somehow immediately. When they see you for the first time, they immediately smile and start talking. They have no barriers in communication and a good sense of humor. But & nbsp;theythey prefer neutral topics. They don’t talk about religion, politics, money and gender here. Now it is impossible to talk about gender, because there are a lot of same-sex stories in the country. Here it is necessary to be very careful  & mdash; it is not clear what you will run into. They can even fire you if you don’t look at a person of non-traditional orientation that way. They felt great support from the state a few years ago, same-sex marriage was legalized here.

Most Australians know very little about the geography of the world, but they are very curious. They listen with sincere interest to Lia’s stories about Russia, ask a lot of questions. Very often people ask how we live in such a cold, and at the same time we are convinced that immigrants from Russia should never freeze.

« I & nbsp; try to explain to them that in the houses of Russians, although there would be batteries, — says Lia. When it’s cold outside, it’s warm inside and everyone wears T-shirts. And in Australia there is no central heating at all, everyone warms up as he can. It’s cold in our tropical state right nowtwo months. At night, plus five, plus ten degrees. It’s really cold, it’s uncomfortable at home. We turn on the air conditioner for heat or put a heater on. At such a time, we are wrapped up, and the locals, on the contrary, can wear T-shirts in plus five plus five. They do not know how to dress according to the season, they are not adapted to this.

When she was still communicating with her future husband on Skype, she often saw him sitting at home in a scarf and a hat. We had summer at that moment, and it was winter in Australia.

As a believer, Leah notes with great regret that it is very difficult to find an interlocutor for spiritual conversations among the locals, which is not a problem in Russia. According to her, there are a lot of atheists in Australia and many people will not even understand you if you talk about the soul. Mostly people there are interested in material things, says the Russian woman.Perhaps this is due to the history. Although convicts began to explore Australia, who were brought here from England even for minor offenses, Leah calls it first of all a country of adventurers. Such people poured into Australia during the gold rush, which began later than the American one. It is clear that they were only interested in money.

Leah talks about kangaroos.

The country of rich plumbers

The Australian genes of adventurism give their advantages. Local residents are not afraid to change their profession and start all over again, even in adulthood. They easily take risks, invest money in different projects and even if they lose everything, then they start again. The luckiest investors become very rich, and in this regard, Australia is a countrygreat opportunities. Perhaps, in this way, it continues to attract immigrants. A third of the current inhabitants of the continent were born outside of it, and among them there are a lot of immigrants from Asia. According to Leah, Australia in general is becoming more and more an Asian country every year.

Interestingly, ordinary hard workers often live here richly.

“I was surprised when one day I went to give money to a plumber for repairs,” says Leah. — And I saw in what a gorgeous house he & nbsp;lives. It happens that some guy in an orange work suit gets into a very expensive car in front of your eyes. You think, wow! All this is because the working specialties here are very profitable. The services of those plumbers are not cheap, and they have enough work. Officially, you can’t even install a new outlet in the house without a license yourself, you need to call an electrician.

Salaries in Australia are an order of magnitude higher than in Russia, but prices also bite much harder. According to Leah, after all the spending, there is not so much money left. For example, only for water their family pays about a hundred thousand a year in transfer to our money. Renting a small house costs about 120 thousand rubles a month. And the prices do not stand on the spot.

“Over the past two years, prices for food products have increased very much here, inflation is really big,” Leah shares. — If earlier for one hundred Australian dollars you could buy a whole cart of food in a supermarket, now there are a maximum of two packages. Maybe prices are being raised because of reduced competition. Due to the coronavirus, the borders are closed, and there are much fewer imported goods.

After the realities of St. Petersburg, Leah was very surprised that the vast majority of Australians live in private homes. And this is a common thing even in the center of a big city, literally in a ten-minute walk from skyscrapers. She also noticed that public transport is very poorly developed in the country. In & nbsp;megacities with & nbsp;it is even more or less, but in & nbsp;small cities canwalk only one bus twice a day  and & nbsp; everything. It is very difficult without your own car, but almost everyone has them, and the rights are issued from the age of 16. By the way, traffic violations are very severely punished in Australia, and the police themselves are extremely strict. According to Leah, it is impossible to joke with them in any case, and it is better to be silent at all if there is nothing to say about the case.

A post about Lia’s acquaintance with her future husband.

They scold the authorities while sitting in quarantine

The low population density and the remoteness of Australia from the whole world in many ways helped it to avoid the severe consequences of the pandemic. Leah notes that there has never been a time pressure in hospitals in the country due to the coronavirus, and there are generally few infected people in comparison with other countries. But even with a small outbreak, the authorities introduce tough measures that cause a wave of criticism.

“There are a lot of dissatisfied people in the state of Victoria because of the actions of the state,” Lia splits. — & nbsp; There were entrusted to protect people who were sitting in hotels on quarantine to private firms, whose guards did not work well and themselves spread the disease across Melbourne. An outbreak began, after which the entire state was closedand & nbsp;canceled flights. Because of this, the flow of internal migration has sharply increased. People began to leave the big cities at the first opportunity. We have a lot of them in the Gold Coast, I know several families. They are tired of being quarantined for a whole year, when we are swimming here and almost don’t know what it is at all.

However, recently the Gold Coast was again quarantined for three days: a new strain of coronavirus is to blame, finding loopholes in all the barriers. Although Australia is closed to tourists, it continues to accept its citizens from abroad. A two-week quarantine, which upon arrival, everyone is obliged to sit in a hotel at their own expense, does not always help. According to Leah, such people have already spread the infection several times after the quarantine is over, as the virus is changing.

Vaccination in Australia has started recently and so far covers only at-risk groups. The rest can join the queue at will, and people under 40 years old are not even recorded yet. They say that they will not be vaccinated at all with the Astra Zeneka vaccine, which is common in Australia. Stories about & nbsp; thrombosis from & nbsp;her there also made a lot of noise. Young people are planning to put a drug from Pfizer, which has just appeared. There are also kangaroos in the countryanti-vaccinators and supporters of conspiracy theories, but there are a minority of such people. According to Leah, people laugh at stupid stories and are mostly determined to get vaccinated. Some people wait, like the Paramonov family, but they prepare persuasion measures for indecisive people. Plans are being discussed to introduce a ban on unvaccinated flights, which for many will be equal to an obligation. People surrounded by exotic things also like to travel, and it’s difficult to live in a country like Australia without planes at all.

Cut the wires! Six stories about how officials quarreled with the people

Rudeness is in their blood. This could be said about some Russian officials. They are ready to fight with their opponents, swear and cut their wires. We tell six stories about scandalous officials.

I order you not to publish the newspaper

In Uglegorsk (Sakhalin region), the editorial office was de-energized. Thus, the mayor of the city wanted to interrupt the publication of the newspaper “Uglegorsk news”. The publication has prepared a material about how a local mining company negatively affects the environmental background.

Editor-in-chief of Uglegorsk NewsZinaida Makarova said that she was called to the administration by the mayorSergey Doroshchukand handed over the dismissal order.

While Makarova was not in the office, about ten people broke into the editorial office. “According to the electricians, the electrical wires were cut, the printing house was also de-energized. Then the mayor of Uglegorsk came to the journalists and ordered them not to publish the newspaper and to leave the premises for the staff, ” Zinaida Makarova said.

The Telegram channel of the Uglegorsk News also published a video in which the mayor demands that journalists leave the premises. He claims that they are there illegally.

After the scandal broke out, the residents of Uglegorsk began to collect signatures demanding that the mayor of the city be dismissed.

Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Russia Vladimir Solovyov I sent appeals to the Investigative Committee and the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation with a request to give an appropriate legal assessment of the mayor’s actions Sergey Doroshchuk.

Less than a week after the incident in the editorial office of the Uglegorsk News, the mayor resigned. The governor of the Sakhalin Region, who insisted on resigning his powers, explained the dismissal of Sergei Doroshchuk by the insufficiently effective dialogue of the district authorities with the residents.

“Are you so bold?”»

In Rybinsk (Yaroslavl region) the mayor of the city Denis Dobryakov & nbsp;I got into a fight with a blogger. The official took away his smartphone for the fact that, according to the mayor, he took it too close.

“I heard the mayor say,’ Are you so bold?’& ldquo; and snatched from  Mikhail Volkhonsky& nbsp;phone, & mdash; said the deputy of the Rybinsk Municipal Council  Oleg Leontiev. And then Denis Dobryakov left with his phone, saying that he did not have anyone else’s mobile phone.

The blogger wrote a statement to the police, estimating the damage at 30,000 rubles. In turn, Denis Dobryakov called the incident a provocation and said that he did not take the phone away from anyone: “This Mr. Volkhonsky practically raised the phone to my face. I just brushed it off & mdash; and that’s it. He started holding out his hands, allegedly I took the phone from him. Most likely, he dropped it, and climbed on me, arranging a provocation. He has one goal: to destabilize the situation before the voting day, ” Denis Dobryakov, the mayor of Rybinsk, told the correspondent of IA REGNUM.

The investigation is currently investigating the causes of the conflict between the mayor and the blogger.

Denis Dobryakov was already at the center of a scandal in 2021. The mayor at a meeting with the townspeople shouted at the residents of Rybinsk: “Your mother, ah!” People demanded not to open another correctional institution.

“It was very insulting,” said a resident of the village of Volzhsky, who asked not to be named. & mdash; No one is interested in the opinion of people. More than a thousand people came to the meeting, and everyone was against the opening of the correctional center. He simply shut everyone up and expressed the “correct” opinion. He was enraged that people were against it.

Paws and tail & mdash; my documents

Former Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Dmitry Ovsyannikov was fined 2,000 rubles due to a scandal at the Izhevsk airport.

On April 5, Ovsyannikov passed by the control and refused to show documents and a boarding ticket. After the request to show them, he began to use obscene language.

Zavyalovsky District Court of Udmurtia found the former minister guilty of disorderly conduct. At the same time, the official’s lawyer demanded to stop the judicial proceedings due to the absence of the defendant’s actions.

In her opinion, the incident is just a conflict situation that cannot be qualified as a violation of public order.

Dmitry Ovsyannikov did not appear at the trial. But earlier he stated that he fulfilled the requirements of aviation security officers.

But the court, having studied the case materials, found Mr. Ovsyannikov guilty. Because of the scandal, even before the trial, the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation lost his post and was expelled from United Russia.

Hospital or store?

The Minister of Health of the Trans-Baikal Territory, Anna Shangina, was dismissed after a scandal at the hospital in the village of Kharagun.

During a meeting with villagers in a medical institution, people told the official that it was inconvenient for them to go to the city hospital because of long queues and a long wait for an ambulance. In response, the residents heard an angry tirade. « Why is there no hypermarket in Kharagun „Absolute & ldquo;? Because the hypermarket “Absolute” will not work here, it is unprofitable, ” the minister said, comparing the hospital with a store. & mdash; You come here to spend the night and eat, I understand?»

Later, Anna Shangina apologized for these words. & laquo; Please forgive me for making a harsh statement, for & bdquo;eating and sleeping in the hospital“. The district hospital will not be closed, it will change its status, ” Anna Shangina said. But it was too late: the official was dismissed with a bang.

Scandal in the social network

Deputy Head of the Directorate of Innovative Creative Projects of the Kemerovo Region Irina PantsyrevaI had a row with residents in social networks. In the comments to one of the publications by Theodora Otsel (the nickname of the famous Kemerovo cultural trader & nbsp;Olga Vasilyeva) asked several questions about the innovations proposed by Pantsyreva.

The official’s answer was shocking. “The document is first of a certified journalist who has the right to interview, or an investigator who has the right to call for interrogations,” Irina Pantsyreva replied. & mdash; Well, and the taxman at the same time, to ask about the budget».

Later, all comments under the scandalous publication were deleted. Pantsyreva explained that she had not offended anyone. “Asking for a certificate is not an insult. I must understand that I am communicating with a healthy person. I have some doubts, ” the official said.

Judging by the data on the website of the Directorate of innovative creative projects of the Kemerovo region and other information on the Internet, Irina Pantsyreva still remains in the position of deputy head of the budget institution.

Invited to & laquo;arrow»

The adviser to the governor of the Orel region did not restrain himself in his expressions either.Sergey Lezhnev. & nbsp;He publicly insulted  Dmitry Seregin, a paramedic and coordinator of the independent trade union “Action”, repeatedly calling him in his Telegram channel.

The reason was Seregin’s statement about the unsatisfactory situation in the health care of the region. So, medical workers have to “rip out” the payments due to them from officials.

“Well, you treat people, treat them. But no, he wants to become a deputy. Fortunately, the time is now medical and medical, how not to get excited on this topic!» & mdash; quotes the words of Sergey Lezhnev « OrelTimes».

After the insults to the medic, the official moved on to the “examination”of the headlines in the local media. He did not like the wording “In Orel, the doctors infected with the coronavirus” went to the patients “in the ambulance”. The governor’s adviser said that this was a “blatant lie”.

It is not the first time that Sergey Lezhnev gets into a scandalous story. Earlier, he called a resident of Orel and promised that he would find him.A social network user commented on his post about his daughter’s birthday. Dmitry Zhumik & nbsp;instead of congratulating him, he wrote to the official that Lezhnev’s daughter would “pay”for her father’s affairs. “Everything you do now will affect her life. You’ll see», & mdash; quotes IA & laquo;Orelgrad».

According to Zhumik, they called him with threats, invited him to the arrow, threatened him. And this is not the only attack from the assistant governor. Earlier, he called Oryol journalism “crap”, accused journalists of extortion, insulted specific residents and all Oryol residents.

The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation considered that the behavior of Sergei Lezhnev discredits the authorities in the region, and suggested that the governor of the Orel region take measures to eliminate violations and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“The facts of non-compliance with the requirements of the adviser to the Governor of the Orel region, S. V. Lezhnev, were revealed […] of the Federal Law “On the State Civil Service of the Russian Federation”, namely, the prohibitions and restrictions established by law related to the passage of the state civil service, including those expressed in insulting the residents of the region. So, the verification materialsThe prosecutor’s offices of the Sovetsky district of the city of Orel contain information about the insult committed by Lezhnev S. V. Zhumik D. I. Facts of incorrect statements were revealed to the paramedic of the ambulance Seregin D. V. Such behavior discredits the authorities of the region, ” the letter of the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation says.

But Sergey Lezhnev remains the governor’s media adviser.

Special norms for officials

Daria Levina Lawyer: “Unpleasant and even offensive statements are becoming more common today, and this is also due to the growing popularity of social networks. However, rudeness on the part of officials is doubly offensive: they should work for the benefit of society, and not humiliate someone’s dignity. Today, lawmakers have united to fight rudeness, who insisted on changing the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. Sanctions for insults in general have increased (Part 1 of Article 5.61 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation). Citizens used to be fined in the amount of 1,000 to 3,000 rubles, and now-from 3,000 to 5,000. And a special norm has been introduced for officials: part 4 of Article 5.61.

Daria Levina. Photo: From the personal archive

The prerequisites for the introduction of such a special norm were the precedents when the authorities clearly violated the elementary norms of decency and launched into insults.

“There is a need to stop such behavior. In addition, the skew in the legislation has been corrected, when responsibility for ordinary citizens for insulting government officials is provided, but not in the reverse order, says Daria Levina. & mdash; Judging by the sanctions for committing an insultmunicipal or state employees, the demand from them is much stricter due to their positions. So, for the first offense, a fine of 50,000 to 100,000 rubles is threatened, and for repeated-from 100,000 to 150,000. In addition, both in the first and in the second case, the matter may reach the removal from a managerial position for several years.

The lawyer notes that insults on the Internet not only for officials, but also for all citizens, were equated to public insults.

& laquo; If you have been insulted by a municipal or state employee, you should contact the prosecutor’s office, & mdash; says the lawyer. & mdash; The case will be considered by a justice of the peace within the time limit established by law & raquo;.

The icebreaker of the revolution. How the failures of “Svyatogor” grew into the triumphs of “Krasin”

105 years ago, on August 3, 1916 (according to the old style), the icebreaker “Svyatogor” was launched. For some mysterious reason, this date is considered the “birthday” of the famous ship.

In fact, according to all generally accepted rules, the real birth of a ship comes only at the moment when the flag is raised on it. And there are reasons for this. For example, the same “Svyatogor”did not yet have a power plant when launching it,” it just had to be installed. He also did not have a deck – it began to be laid only at the end of August 1916. In a word, launching is a kind of intermediate birth of a vessel. The flag is a completely different calico. Once it is raised, it means that the vessel is ready for independent navigation and for performing the entire range of tasks according to the declared class.

The flag was raised on “Svyatogor” on March 31, 1917. But the trick is that even at this moment the icebreaker has not yet been completely brought to mind. After going to sea, he, due to problems in the management, collided with the destroyer of the convoy and was returned to port.

The icebreaker was frankly raw, which in February 1918 was noted by a special commission: “For the warranty year, Svyatogor had only 11 days of running in free water, including about three days of work in the ice.”

By and large, it was a failure. Not a ship, no. “Svyatogor” will still show itself, becoming the most famous icebreaker, in fact, a living legend of the Northern Seas. However, it will be later, only after it is renamed in honor of the People’s Commissar of Foreign Trade of the USSR Leonid Krasin .

But as of 1918, “Svyatogor” can really be considered a failure. First of all, the failure of strategic planning.

If everything was done according to the mind, then an icebreaker of this class would have been laid back in 1911. At the very least, in 1912 . The fact is that on May 7, 1911, the commander of the first and at that time the most powerful icebreaker in the world, “Ermak” Rudolf Felman he took the initiative to build an icebreaker with a capacity of 21 thousand horsepower and a displacement of 14 thousand tons. True, Rudolf Karlovich thought exclusively in a military way. It was assumed that the mobilized icebreakers would be able to lead the military fleet to the most unexpected places in the winter time, in order to make a grandiose commotion and influence the outcome of the war. Ensuring trade, if it was planned, then somewhere on the tenth roles.

Felman’s offer was rejected. And a few years later, when the First World War broke out, it was time to bite your elbows. The fact is that a ship of this class turned out to be extremely necessary not for winter sea sabotage, but just to maintain at least some level of maritime trade.

With the beginning of the war, the main ice-free ports of the Russian Empire ceased to perform their main functions. In the Baltic, trade was interrupted by the German fleet, in the Black Sea by the Turkish. Vladivostok was good for everyone, but its connectivity with the European part of Russia left much to be desired.

I had to return almost to the realities of the times of Ivan the Terrible when the main seaport of Russia was Arkhangelsk. And that’s where icebreakers were needed & ndash; navigation was bound to become year-round. Already in August 1914, they began to feverishly buy them abroad. But by the end of 1915, this resource was completely exhausted & ndash; ready-made ships simply could not be obtained anywhere. In addition, the winter of 1915-1916 turned out to be so severe that the capacity of the purchased icebreakers and icebreaking steamers was enough to carry only a few ships with such necessary military cargo to the port.

I must say that the reaction was, in general, correct. Already in December 1915, negotiations were held with the British firm W. G. Armstrong, Whitworth & Co. Ltd., and in January 1916 a contract was signed for the construction of an icebreaker of the type “Ermak”. According to the contract, the new icebreaker was to be put into operation by October 1916 in order to be in time for the autumn-winter navigation.

However, this particular clause of the contract was not fulfilled. “Svyatogor” did not participate in the navigation of 1916-1917, nor in the navigation of 1917-1918. It was finished, repaired, tested… In the end, they still brought it to mind. By April 1918, he somehow entered service and found the most difficult navigation of 1918. At that time, “Svyatogor”was the mostthe most powerful icebreaker in the world. By the way, he held this status almost until the 1950s. Even the icebreakers of the project 51 type & laquo; And. Stalin, which were built in the 1930s, did not exceed it in total installation capacity. By the way, this very power plant stood on the icebreaker until 1953, only then the question of its modernization seriously arose.

However, it was already too late. The new government concluded the Brest Peace with Germany, and the need for military supplies from the Entente countries seems to have disappeared. However, the Entente countries themselves thought a little differently. The British launched a large-scale intervention in the Russian North. From a formal point of view, the pretext was perfect. The Bolsheviks have concluded a separate peace with Germany, and we are still at war! So, there is a need to “protect the warehouses of the Allied military equipment from the Germans”. In fact, they were interested only and exclusively in the natural resources of Russia, as well as its icebreaking fleet.

The fate of “Svyatogor” turned out to be sad. “The Provisional Government of the Northern Region” gave it, and in general almost the entire icebreaking fleet to the allies. Why? What for? Yes, just like that, in fact, for beautiful eyes, as an advance, so that they would only help to cope with the “evil Bolsheviks”: “The icebreakers passed to the British command immediately after the coup, and on “Svyatogor” the personnel were all English. The transfer of most of these vessels took place after verbal negotiations, without any conditions, according to the statement of the British command about the need for them.

And the “evil Bolsheviks” and specifically Leonid Krasin for many years, until 1922, were negotiating not even about the return of the “nbsp; – about the redemption of “Svyatogor”. His further history is the history of Soviet triumphs. But all this could not have happened, and the most powerful icebreaker of that time had every chance to leave Russia forever.

Rumyantsev: the new standard of medical care will require qualified doctors

Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, founder of the D. Rogachev Center Alexander Rumyantsev believes that the development of a new all-Russian standard of primary medical care will require changes in the system of training doctors, as well as modern approaches in the field of medical education.

Earlier, the chief doctor of the hospital in Kommunarka, Denis Protsenko, stated the need to develop a new standard of primary medical care in the country, when all the processes “revolve around the patient”. According to him, the doctors themselves should change, and the new system should be based on the concept of “patient-centricity”.

Rumyantsev agreed with Protsenko that the current medical training programs do not meet modern realities. However, in his opinion, patient orientation is possible only if a sufficient number of qualified doctors are trained in the Russian Federation.

For the effective work of the system of training and retraining of personnel, it is necessary to stop the outflow of talented teachers from medical universities, significantly increasing their salaries, the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences concluded.

At the end of July, Denis Protsenko gave an interview to the media, in which he spoke about what is happening now with the coronavirus infection and how healthcare works in the process of combating the pandemic. Read more in the article АиФ.ги.

The largest fire broke out on Sunday, August 1, on the Greek island of Rhodes: the first fire was recorded in the Pantanassa area at noon on Sunday, but the fire quickly spread to other territories. However, on Monday, the fire on the island of Rhodes went down due to the active actions of firefighters on the ground, as well as the work of fire aviation, including the Russian Be-200ChS amphibious aircraft.
Due to the heat in the country, dozens of forest fires have started in recent days. The temperature in many parts of the country reaches 44-47 degrees Celsius, and this period, according to meteorologists, can last about 12 days. In total, 116 fires have been recorded in Greece over the past two days.
