For nine days, in the Moscow representation of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia, monks built this mandala (or palace) out of sand.

“In Buddhism, there are mandalas of wisdom, longevity, protection, and compassion for all living beings,” says Bair Lama Tsympilov, chairman of the Moscow Buddhist community. The mandala, dedicated to the Buddha of Medicine Otosho, gives health and well-being to all those who live on the land where it is being built. This is especially true today during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The process of creating a mandala is painstaking. On a square canvas, the outlines are drawn in the form of a circle, inside which the lamas begin to lay out the drawing, moving from the center to the periphery. The building material is a special sand colored with different minerals. On the ninth day, when the butler is completely ready, it is destroyed.

— This centuries-old tradition is not invented by us, — tells Bator Lama who studied the art of creating mandalas in Buryatia for many years. Both construction and destruction are a ritual that shows that everything in the world is impermanent compared to eternity. During the creation of the mandala, by reciting mantras and tatras, this sand palace accumulates tremendous energy. Afterafter its destruction, we distribute some of the sand to the believers, and lower the rest into the river.

Portrait of Wasserman from almost two thousand Rubik’s cubes collected in Moscow

The presentation of the work this weekend was held in one of the capital’s shopping centers as part of a meeting of the famous polymath with the volunteers of his “Academy”.

According to one of the authors of the work, Maxim Vetlov, the image consists of 1650 cubes.

The three volunteers worked on the 50 by 33 cm mosaic, which took them three days. The portrait was divided into 15 blocks, each of the participants collected their own block of the picture, dividing it into colors.

Viktor Rudnev, a volunteer who worked on the most difficult part of the image – the face and hair-shared his impressions.

He said that he greatly respects and appreciates Anatoly Wasserman. “When I was offered to participate in this event, I immediately agreed,” the volunteer admitted. He explained that people are engaged in the assembly of paintings for the sake of interest, there is even a whole direction-speedcubing. “It can’t be called a sport, but people at such competitions collect various puzzles for speed,” added Viktor Rudnev.

Wasserman, in turn, noted that building a Rubik’s cube requires “considerable mental effort”.

The famous polymath expressed his gratitude to the enthusiasts who collected his portrait from unusual materials. “To implement such a portrait is a non-trivial idea. And this gives great value to the resulting portrait, ” said the political consultant.

To collect unusual vocabulary, philologists used user comments on the Yandex. Zen website. The researchers chose the words that they found most interesting.

So, in the metropolitan region, cafes, restaurants and other public catering establishments can be designated in one word – “eatery”. A multi-storey building in Moscow is called a “man-maker”, and a shopping pavilion is called a “corner”.

The Russian Armed Forces announced the formation of collective immunity to COVID-19

The head of the Military Medical Academy named after S. M. Kirov, Yevgeny Kryukov, said on the sidelines of the SPIEF that Russian servicemen have developed collective immunity to the coronavirus as a result of a successful vaccination campaign, TASS reports.

According to Kryukov, the vaccination of military personnel is almost finished. It was noted that with its voluntary nature, it was easier than for civilians. 

The head of the academy also stressed that many medical developments for the treatment of COVID-19 were first used in the Ministry of Defense. For example, the DoD was the first to use the plasma of patients who had been vaccinated.

Earlier, the WHO said that by the end of the year, countries should vaccinate 30% of the population. At the same time, the director General of the health organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus believes that strains resistant to vaccination may appear. It was emphasized that high-risk groups and health workers should be vaccinated as a priority.

SpaceX has launched the American satellite SXM-8 into orbit

The American company SpaceX has launched a Falcon 9 carrier rocket with a relay satellite SXM-8, the broadcast was conducted on the company’s website.

Eight wildfires occurred in the Tyumen region during the day, in total, 22 wildfires are operating in the region, according to the regional operational headquarters.

Five forest fires in the region occurred on a total area of 9 hectares, three landscape fires on a total area of 22 hectares.The total number of active forest fires – 18, landscape – four.

It is noted that this year the region recorded the largest fires in the last ten years. Since May 11, a state of emergency in the forests has been introduced in the Tyumen region.

The day before, it was reported that the area of forest fires in Russia increased by almost 20% in a day. Currently, there are 81 natural fires on the territory of the country on an area of 18,040 hectares. The largest of them is observed in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, as well as in Yakutia, Kamchatka Territory, Irkutsk and Tyumen regions.

Inna Latysheva, head of the Basic Department of the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics SB RAS, said that the weather will be mostly warm, but advised not to discount the rapid change of heat and cold waves and their possible delay in any region.

But, apparently, the real state of affairs with hypersound in the United States is very different from the plans. For example, in March, the Congressional Budget Office published a report in which the United States acknowledged that it did not have enough advanced technology to create hypersonic weapons. In connection with this, the program of its deployment may be implemented with a long delay. In early April 2021, the US Air Force reported a failure during a test of an air-launched hypersonic weapon. Due to the problems encountered, the launch vehicle did not launch.

But in any case, the development of hypersonic weapons is currently being conducted in broad cooperation by leading American companies. Dynetics Technical Solutions will be the first company to produce prototypes of hypersonic gliding warheads, and Lockheed Martin will serve as a system integrator for this type of weapon. The amount of Lockheed Martin’s contracts for the development of hypersonic weapons already exceeds $2.5 billion.

Dynetics, based in Huntsville, Alabama, will produce the first mass-produced prototype set of Common-Hypersonic Glide Body systems.

General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems will provide cable, electrical and mechanical production. Lockheed will support production, assembly, integration, testing, system design, and analysis.
