Rospotrebnadzor reported on the absence of radiation hazards in St. Petersburg

The radiation background and radiation safety indicators in St. Petersburg correspond to the average long-term values, the press service of the Department of Rospotrebnadzor reported.

The ministry noted that the analysis of these indicators is carried out in normal mode and does not record the risks of radiation pollution in the city, RIA Novosti reports.

Earlier, the media reported on the risk of radiation incidents on the territory of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “RSC Applied Chemistry” in the village of Kuzmolovo, Leningrad Region.

In this village, the regional authorities have introduced a high-alert mode in connection with the transfer from one department to another of an object that has a potential radiation hazard.

During the privatization of the property belonging to the plant “Applied Chemistry”, the warehouse with production materials with a radioactive trace was not included in the list of objects for transfer to the property.

Applied Chemistry produces, among other things, fluoropolymer films, radiation monitoring detectors, and solid oxygen sources.
