According to the expert, not so long ago, tiger mosquitoes appeared on the Black Sea coast, which are easily recognized by the black and white stripes on the legs and on the body.
“We’ve never had this mosquito before. And now the tiger mosquito has spread throughout the entire territory of the Caucasian coast, reached Novorossiysk, and is also found in the Crimea. He carries dengue fever, Zika, chikungunya and all sorts of arbovirus infections, ” Roslavtseva said.
The expert added that in the south of Russia there are many mosquitoes of different species, and all of them can carry worms. Also in the Crimea there are malarial mosquitoes and a lot of mosquitoes.
Earlier, Vadim Maryinsky, a researcher at the Department of General Ecology and Hydrobiology of the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University, said that the “mosquito peak” in Moscow and the Moscow region is not expected in early summer.
According to him, the first mosquitoes have just begun to appear in the region. It is not yet clear whether there will be many of them this year, the scientist said, suggesting that there will not be a sharp outbreak of their numbers like last year.
