Russia has transferred the Pantsir-S missile defense system to military exercises in Serbia

The battery of the ZRPK “Pantsir-S” was transferred to Serbia to participate in the Russian-Serbian air defense exercises “Slavic Shield” 2021.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the air defense unit equipped with the Pantsir-S complex was delivered to the republic by aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces.

The battery will be deployed at the Batainitsa Airbase and will be part of a joint mixed group that will work out air defense.

As part of the exercises, Russian and Serbian anti-aircraft gunners will perform tasks of detecting, tracking, classifying and destroying air targets.

The exercises “Slavic Shield” are aimed at working out the interaction and joint combat use of air defense units of the two countries, the defense department notes.

Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu assessed the role of the recently completed Russian-Belarusian strategic exercises “WEST-2021”. He stated that the maneuvers showed the ability of the two states to effectively ensure regional security.
