Search and rescue operation on Mount Elbrus

Rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations have completed the operation to rescue a group of climbers on Elbrus, they managed to evacuate 14 people from the mountain. Five climbers were killed. The search and rescue operation on Mount Elbrus was carried out in difficult meteorological conditions: wind gusts reached 40-70 m/s, heavy precipitation in the form of wet snow, air temperature up to -20 degrees Celsius, visibility no more than 1 meter.

On the evening of September 23, a group of climbers who climbed Elbrus to a height of 5400 meters requested the help of rescuers due to a sharp deterioration in weather conditions. 69 rescuers with 16 pieces of equipment took part in the search.
