Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has arrived in the Southern Military District, where he will inspect the construction of new bases for the Caspian Flotilla, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
Shoigu will check in Makhachkala the point where surface ships are based, the base point under construction in Kaspiysk and the training base of the squadron for combating underwater sabotage forces and means.
The command of the Southern Military District and the Caspian Flotilla will report to the Minister on combat training and the organization of the training process.
The head of the Russian Defense Ministry will also assess the implementation of the state defense order at the Dagdiesel plant.
Yesterday it became known about the start of the Northern Fleet exercises in the Barents Sea, dedicated to working out the protection of the Arctic borders of the country.
