Shoigu held a meeting with the Commander-in-Chief of the Myanmar Armed Forces

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu held a working meeting with the Commander-in-Chief of the Myanmar Armed Forces, Min Aung Hlaing, the press service of the ministry reports.

During the talks, the head of the Russian defense ministry noted that Myanmar is a time-tested strategic partner and reliable ally for the Russian Federation in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region.

Shoigu also stressed that cooperation in the military and military-technical fields is an important component of the entire complex of relations between Moscow and Naypyidaw. At the same time, he expressed the opinion that bilateral relations between the countries should be strengthened.

The Minister also noted that today the armed forces of Myanmar are one of the most effective in the region, as they are equipped with modern weapons and military equipment.

The Russian defense Ministry, according to Shoigu, considers this meeting as an excellent opportunity to exchange views on the prospects for developing cooperation, including in the military and military-technical spheres.

Min Aung Hlaine, in turn, noted that the help of the Russian side made the Myanmar army one of the strongest in the Asia-Pacific region. At the same time, he highlighted the personal contribution of the head of the Russian Defense Ministry to the development of the Armed Forces of the republic.

Earlier, Sergei Shoigu also held a telephone conversation with the head of the Armenian Defense Ministry, Vagharshak Harutyunyan.
