Son of ex-official from Dagestan acquitted of murder of student

The Nikulinsky court of Moscow on Tuesday acquitted the son of a former high-ranking official from Dagestan, Mukhtar Medzhidov, on charges of murdering a MGIMO student, RIA Novosti reports. 

The day before, the young man was acquitted by the jury, which found that his guilt in the death of the girl was not proven.Relatives of the deceased tried to recover compensation in the amount of 30 million rubles from the defendant, but their civil claims were rejected.

Recall that the incident occurred in April 2018. A student from Kazakhstan, Tomiris Baysafa, fell out of a window on the fourth floor of the MGIMO building. According to witnesses, before that the girl found out the relationship with the young man. The student fell into a coma and died three weeks later.In 2020, the Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested the son of the former head of the government of the Republic of Dagestan, Mukhtar Medzhidov Murtuzali, who was accused of murdering a student.
