Pilot-cosmonaut, Hero of Russia Andrey Borisenko expressed his opinion about the announced flight into space of the Space X spacecraft without professional astronauts, writes Газета.ги.
According to him, it is risky to send a professionally untrained crew due to possible emergency situations.
“In general, in my opinion, this is a completely wrong decision, because everything is fine in space as long as there is no emergency situation. In case of its occurrence, the crew must be prepared to overcome this situation, ” Borisenko is sure. It is almost impossible to prepare a layman for this kind of activity in a short time. Professional cosmonauts and astronauts have been preparing for many years, so I am very wary of such flights. The crew will be very lucky if there are no emergency situations.
The interlocutor of the newspaper added that “tourists” on a spaceship must be accompanied by an experienced professional. “When flying into space, the main burden falls on professional astronauts, so the commander of the ship must necessarily be a professional with a fairly extensive experience of space flights. Putting an inexperienced professional on a spaceship surrounded by tourists is a risk that, in my opinion, is beyond the acceptable limit, the speaker believes.
He also noted that such flights will become possible in Russia when the country manages to reach the appropriate level of space technology, which, according to him, will not happen earlier than in 50 years.
The crew of the first civilian Inspiration4 mission is scheduled to go into space on the SpaceX Crew Dragon ship on September 15.
