The Yessentuki City Court has detained four more defendants in a criminal case on corruption in the UGIBDD of the Stavropol Territory, TASS reports.
“Five defendants were taken into custody, including Safonov. Two – house arrest, one more-a ban on certain actions, ” said Vyacheslav Khloponin, representative of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation for the North Caucasus and Southern Federal Districts.
The head of the UGIBDD of the Stavropol Territory, Alexey Safonov, and six of his subordinates were detained on the morning of July 20. They are suspected of corruption and official crimes and receiving a bribe in the amount of 19 million rubles.
A criminal case was opened under the article “Receiving a bribe on a particularly large scale”. According to the investigation, the participants of the organized group made illegal passes for cargo carriers of grain crops and inert cargo.
Earlier, the court in Yessentuki arrested Alexey Safonov, the head of the traffic police department of the Stavropol Territory, for two months.
