By the end of this year, the first serial missile carrier of the project 955A (“Borey-A”) “Prince Oleg”, the nuclear-powered vessel of the project 885M “Novosibirsk”, the large submarine of the project 636.3 “Magadan” and the corvette of the project 20380 “Zealous” will enter the Navy service, TASS reports with reference to the deputy general director of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) for the military shipbuilding of Vladimir Korolev. The vessels will be handed over to the customer by enterprises belonging to the USC.
In addition, this year’s plans include laying a frigate at the Northern Shipyard, two corvettes at the Amur Shipyard, a mine defense ship at the Sredne-Nevsky Shipyard and a medium tanker at the Nevsky Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant.
Also, after the repair is completed, it is planned to hand over the nuclear submarine of the project 671RTMK “Tambov”, the patrol ship of the project 11540 “Undaunted”and the mine defense ship of the project 1265 “German Ugryumov”.
In addition, it is reported that the cruiser “Admiral Nakhimov”will be tested in 2023. According to Korolev, during its modernization, many issues related to the ship’s energy, its weapons and electronic weapons have to be solved. Also, a large block of work is being carried out on the missile weapons complex.
The heavy nuclear missile cruiser of the project 1144.2 M (cipher “Orlan”) “Admiral Nakhimov” is undergoing repair and modernization at the enterprise “Sevmash” (part of the USC).
“Let’s still assume that we are in the schedule. And there are nuances, as usual. I think the cruiser will be tested in 2023, ” Korolev noted.
According to him, the very course of work at Nakhimov confirms that Severodvinsk shipbuilders can not only build nuclear-powered missile submarines, but also restore the technical readiness of such unique ships as the heavy nuclear cruisers of Project 1144 Orlan.
“Admiral Nakhimov” was under repair since 1999. Real work on it began in 2013. Earlier it was reported that the cruiser will be tested in 2021. The main result of the modernization will be a significant increase in the striking power of the ship. It will carry 10 universal ship firing gunscomplexes for eight cruise missiles «Caliber-NK & raquo; or«Onyx & raquo;. In the future, the vessel will receive hypersonic missiles “Zircon”.
Earlier, the lead submarine of the Lada project completed pilot operation.
