21 of the 28 medicines recommended by the Ministry of Health for the treatment of COVID-19 are produced in Russia. This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova during her speech at the final board of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, TASS reports.
According to her, eight of these drugs are produced in a full cycle from domestic components.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that last year health care became a mobilization industry together with industry. In her opinion, in the near future it is necessary to continue to increase production volumes so that Russia is ready for pandemics in advance.
Golikova also recalled that in 2020, the list of 215 strategic important medicines was updated, the production of which should be completely located in the country.
In this regard, she called for minimizing the dependence of the Russian Federation on imported ready-made medicines and pharmaceutical substances.
“Of course, such drugs as cardiovascular and oncological ones are long cycles of preclinical and clinical trials, but our work with vaccines has shown that we can, can and should,” the Deputy Prime Minister stressed.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Murashko, said that the country has begun production of a new drug “COVID-globulin” based on the blood plasma of patients with COVID-19.
