The Russian Navy announced a series of exercises involving 140 ships

The Russian Navy will conduct a series of exercises in January-February on all seas adjacent to the Russian territory, as well as in strategically important areas of the World Ocean, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reports.

Also, separate exercises will be held in the Mediterranean, Northern and Okhotsk Seas, the north-eastern part of the Atlantic Ocean and in the Pacific Ocean.

The Navy plans to use more than 140 combat and auxiliary vessels, more than 60 aircraft, 1,000 units of military equipment and about 10 thousand military personnel.

In particular, today in the Sea of Japan, the newest diesel-electric submarine “Volkhov” hit a target at a training ground in the Khabarovsk Territory. The launch of the cruise missile of the “Caliber” complex was carried out from an underwater position. The rocket flew more than 1,000 km.

The ministry recalled that from January 18 to 22, the Russian-Chinese-Iranian CHIRU-2Q22 naval exercise is being held in the Gulf of Oman. It involves a detachment of ships of the Pacific Fleet consisting of the Guards missile cruiser Varyag, a large anti-submarine ship Admiral Tributs and a large sea tanker Boris Butoma.

After the completion of the exercises, the detachment of ships of the Pacific Fleet will move to the Mediterranean Sea, where it will meet with the forces of the Northern and Baltic fleets. They will conduct joint exercises. A detachment of SF and BF ships on January 15 has already left Baltiysk and headed to the meeting area.
