Plot The detention of blogger Yuri Khovansky in the case of terrorist propaganda

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation explained the detention of blogger Yuri Khovansky by the fact that he performed a song with “public calls for terrorism”, with the aim of “forming the ideology of terrorism”, the press service of the department reported.

A criminal case has been opened on “public calls to carry out terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism or propaganda of terrorism” against Yuri Khovansky, born in 1990, who is a blogger, the question of the measure of restraint and the presentation of charges is being resolved, the TFR said.

Earlier it was reported that Khovansky was detained the night before in St. Petersburg on the case of justifying terrorism, but his status was not specified.

According to the investigation, no later than July 3, 2020, Khovansky “in order to form the ideology of terrorism, the belief in its attractiveness” performed a song on the network containing, according to the experts ‘ conclusion, signs of public calls for terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism and its propaganda, signs of threats and humiliation based on nationality, as well as calls and justification for the need to carry out aggressive, violent, cruel actions (terrorist acts)».

According to TASS, citing a source in the investigative authorities, Khovansky’s detention is connected with a song about the terrorist attack at the theater center on Dubrovka in Moscow in 2002. In the Telegram channel “Khova’s Liver”, the blogger published a voice message in which he admitted that he had performed this song in front of a group of Nazis.

“The story with Khovansky is connected with the song about the Nord-Ost,” the source said. According to him, the blogger was detained after his confession in the Telegram channel in the performance of this song. The channel is open, in the description it is listed as “Telegram channel of Yuri Khovansky”. The audio recording, posted in February, is on the channel, and, according to the source, investigators believe that it is Khovansky’s voice.

A song endorsing the attack has also been posted online, including on YouTube. The media wrote that it was allegedly sung by Khovansky and admitted that he was ashamed of it. The video is accompanied by a photo of the blogger, but it contains only the audio track.

Khovansky is 31 years old, 4.4 million people have subscribed to his video blog on YouTube.
