What is a “diving” cyclone?

In the coming days, the Atlantic cyclone will bring heavy snowfalls to the Leningrad and Arkhangelsk regions, to the south of Karelia.On December 16, wet snow will pass in the Moscow region. 40-degree frosts in the coming days will come to the north of Siberia. And in the south and south-east of Yakutia at night it is already over minus 50 degrees.

Why is a diving cyclone so called and where is it moving from?

The main feature of the “diving” cyclone is its trajectory. Unlike most cyclones that move along the latitude from the west to the east, this cyclone goes from the northwest to the southeast, and at an impressive speed (up to 50 km/h).
