For the first time in 10 years, passing scores to universities have decreased. How so? Have the children become dumber?

Responds with Irina Abankina, Head of the HSE Institute of Education Development:
Regional universities have received additional budget places in the specialties most in demand in the economy of a particular region. Therefore, the average passing score there has decreased. But it is not essential, so it is not worth sounding the alarm. In the universities of Moscow and St. Petersburg, the average passing score, on the contrary, has increased. And this is a trendthe last 3 years. Graduates with high USE scores are chosen by metropolitan universities, because the prestige of the university is also important for them, and among which children they will study. There is also a risk that in their regions they will find themselves among children with significantly lower scores, less motivated, who will not be able to master complex programs.
