“They could have leaned on that bastard.” What the beating of a Muscovite in the subway showed

The loud story of the beating in the subway of a Muscovite who stood up for the girl reached as far as the presidential administration. They called “scum” three natives of Dagestan who participated in the attack. However, the Kremlin believes that the nationality of the attackers does not matter. Chairman of the IC Alexander Bastrykin meanwhile, he instructed to reward both the beaten Muscovite and the woman who called the police. Experts also talk about the big problems of society if there is no one in a car full of people who would come to the aid of a man beaten by three hooligans.

Awarded for bravery

The medal “Valor and courage” will be awarded to a Muscovite Roman Kovalev for showing courage on the direct instructions of the head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin. “Despite the numerical superiority on the part of the attackers, the man did not stand aside and stood up for the girl,” explained this decision in the IC of Russia. They added that Kovalev, without entering into a conflict, made a remark, for which he was severely beaten by an aggressively minded company.

On October 4, 25-year-old Roman stood up for a girl in the Moscow metro when three young men began to molest her. They did not like Kovalev’s intervention. The three of them knocked Roman to the floor and started kicking him, after which they tried to escape.

Alexander Bastrykin also instructed to reward a woman who witnessed the beating. She did not lose her head and pressed the alarm button on the train, and then rushed after the attackers and pointed them out to the police. Thanks to her, the men managed to be detained on the spot. She will be awarded a medal “for assistance”.

The attackers have already been taken into custody until December 5. The case was taken under the special control of the head of the IC. At first, young people were charged only with hooliganism, implying punishment in the form of a fine and forced labor for up to 5 years or up to 7 years in prison. However, then the UK opened several more criminal cases against the beaters, including on the fact of attempted murder. And considering that the attackers resisted the police during the arrest (one of them pulled out a knife), they are also charged with “using violence against a representative of the authorities”. Now they can face up to 20 years in prison.

How is Roman Kovalev feeling?

Roman Kovalev was hospitalized after being beaten. There is a risk that his eyesight will drop significantly. The young man has a broken nose, huge bruises, a swollen face. In social networks, they promptly organized a fundraiser for the recovery of the victim. A wide resonance attracted the attention of the authorities. In the hospital, Roman was personally visited by the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

“I thanked him for standing up for the girl,” Sobyanin wrote on his social networks. — Roman is clearly already better. Doctors will do everything to fully restore his health, there is still an operation to be performed.

The mayor instructed the management of the Moscow metro to provide material assistance to the victim, in the amount of 2 million rubles. In addition, he noted the actions of the woman who called the police, as well as the train driver, the attendant at the station and the police who detained the intruders.

What do they say about what happened?

The relatives of the three Dagestani detainees do not believe that they could commit such cruelty. “He couldn’t have done that at all,” said the shocked mother of one of the attackers. — It’s not him. He was very kind. Grandma is passing by, he will help this grandmother. How he got there at this moment, I don’t understand.

“Such actions have no justification and are unacceptable in a civilized society. Take and beat an innocent person and take it on camera. It does not fit in my head that Dagestanis, mountaineers, people in whose veins flows the blood of heroes of the Great Patriotic War, home front workers, proud shepherds, skilled artisans, people for whom honor, dignity — the main qualities of a person, could create such a thing, — complained Russian State Duma deputy Khizri Abakarov.

The Kremlin also drew attention to the incident. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov he said that what happened is not a reason to talk about ethnic tension: “We are talking about scum, hooligans, no matter what nationality they are. It is very gratifying that they were quickly detained, that all the necessary procedural actions in their regard will now be carried out, the investigation”.

“It’s beyond good and evil”

There is still a problem with nationality, but not in the sense that there are good nationalities, but there are bad ones, he says АиФ.ги historian and publicist Boris Yakemenko. “The problem is that visitors from other regions of Russia, most often from the south, defiantly violate the norms that exist here in Moscow. We are talking about Russians of different nationalities who live in different regions of Russia with their own way of life, standards of behavior and traditions. And this must be taken into account,” the expert says.

It is very difficult to imagine that three attackers would have done something similar in their native Dagestan, Yakemenko believes. “If they had done it in Makhachkala on public transport, they would not have reached the police, because they would have been killed by the passengers themselves. That is why they would not dare to offend an old man, a woman in Dagestan, to behave so defiantly. But when people break out of this strict environment and come to another region, where public control is not so strict, and traditions differ, some “blow the roof”, “says the political scientist.

According to Yakemenko, the problem is also in the disunity of Russians. “It was rush hour. There was a car full of people. That is, there probably would have been five or six men who could have piled on this bastard and crushed her. But that didn’t happen! Roman Kovalev was the only one who stood up for the girl. And there was the only woman who ran for help. Where were the others? — Yakemenko is perplexed. — i.e. we observetotal disunity, when people cannot stand up for themselves or for their neighbor. Which, of course, is used by other people, of a marginal kind, who feel weak points well and beat them.

Unfortunately, this problem cannot be solved quickly, the expert says. “It’s about mentality. We must learn to protect each other and ourselves. Because what happened in the Moscow metro is beyond good and evil.
