They say that all the bad things should stay in the old year. In the new one, you need to take the best. Therefore, we tried to have time to redo all the most important things before January. Someone did it. And Nikita Surikov – didn’t work out. There were not enough quotas.Nikita Surikov (17 years old, Moscow) needs help urgently to replace the defibrillator. 563 thousand rubles are missing.

Have you watched TV shows about doctors? In any of them there is a scene when the patient’s heart suddenly stops, but the doctor immediately puts two irons on the patient and shouts: “Discharge! Another discharge!»The heart starts, life goes on – and the series too.

So, Nikita Surikov has had such a resuscitating defibrillator in his heart for several years. When Nikita’s heart stops, the device should discharge and start the motor. This was the case until recently. And now the defibrillator has broken down and is electrocuting a teenager just like that. Not in the movies – in real life.

Before this breakdown, there had already been enough blows in Nikita’s life. At first, I was left without my mom – with my dad, grandmother and two uncles in a small apartment in the east of Moscow. And soon Aunt Larisa, Dad’s cousin, who lived next door, appeared instead of mom. Nikita was 3 years old, and he no longer remembers one important morning in his life. How the first frost tickled the nostrils, and in the church near the Izmailovo cemetery there was a thick smell of incense. He was baptized that day. Aunt Larisa became Nikita’s second mother according to the laws of God. And officially recognized as the guardian of the teenager only last October.

Dad and Grandma left one by one. Diseases, age… Thank you for staying uncles – they take care, help and even in Nikita’s room did not change anything. She stayed with him – let him come when he wants. It’s just that Aunt Larisa silently handed him the keys to her one-room apartment, and he silently took them. 17 years old, almost a man, what is there to explain?

“In my life with Nikita, almost nothing has changed. Except that his bed and desk are now in my room. I’ve been with him all my life. And I know his story thoroughly,” says Larisa.

The story is this: Nikita was just a baby when he first lost consciousness while playing in the sandbox. Grandma rushed to him, and he went limp in her arms and turned blue. Cardiologists have repeatedly diagnosed: prolonged qt interval, or, as it is also called, “sudden death syndrome”. Nikita lasted several years on blockers, and then operations were required. First, our foundation paid for the operation to denervate the heart, and later the teenager was given the same life-saving defibrillator.

Nikita graduated from the 9th grade with him and entered college to study robotics. And uncle Vova and uncle Fedor they paid for his music lessons. He now plays guitar in a band. “We are planning to hire a math tutor for Nikita. After college, he needs to go to college. Music is for the soul, and profession is for life,” says Larisa. She herself was orphaned at the age of 15, and her own aunt (Nikita’s grandmother’s twin sister) became her guardian. Thanks to her aunts, she grew up and studied to be an intensive care nurse. And now he’s paying his debt to his godson. She completed a course of study at the school of foster parents and regularly meets with an inspector from custody every three months. “Everything needs to be done in timeand think about everything. Call the guardianship and ask to move the meeting, check the parent chat, meet with my grandchildren (they are a little younger than Nikita), and at the same time what a load in the hospital! I’m making out vaccination certificates. You know how much work we have. But now it all seemed to go by the wayside, because there was trouble with Nikita.

It all happened in the college gym. Nikita is suspended from physical education because of his heart, but sometimes he comes to class for company with other guys. He didn’t run or jump that day. I just threw the ball into the volleyball ring and felt the first discharge of a sharp pain in my chest. History repeated itself twice. And it will happen again. Cardiologists can’t help with anything right now, because it’s impossible to fix an implanted defibrillator. You can only replace it with a new one, but you just have to wait for the quota for the operation. And Nikita, who is pierced by electric shocks, cannot be expected in any way. The disease is still with him, the heart can stop at any moment. Only nothing will start it up again. There will be no discharge, then another one. Alas, this is not a series where doctors always have time to come to the rescue. But this is the very life where strangers help each other just like that.

We can save Nikita for the second time. We will also be paid this debt someday.

Expert opinion

Head of the Department of Clinical and Interventional Arrhythmology of the NIKI Pediatrics. Veltischeva Vladislav Soloviev:

Nikita Surikov, a patient with life-threatening arrhythmia and risks of sudden death, was found to have a fracture of the endocardial electrode and incipient depletion of the cardioverter-defibrillator power supply. An emergency revision of the system and a change of the power source of the device are required. But the quotas for the end of 2021 have ended, and this year they have not yet been allocated.
