Opening of the monument to Princess Diana in London

Princes William and Harry unveiled a statue of Princess Diana on July 1 on the day of the 60th anniversary of her birth.

The opening ceremony of the sculpture was held on the day of the 60th anniversary of the birth of the Princess in the Sunken Garden (Sunken Garden), located next to Kensington Palace. The shape of the sculpture remained a mystery until the last moment, when the Dukes of Cambridge and Sussex together pulled off the green veil from the monument. Under it was a bronze statue depicting a princess, next to which are a boy and a girl.

The sunken garden was one of Diana’s favorite places in Kensington Palace, now it blooms with the princess’s favorite flowers, including forget-me-nots, roses, tulips, dahlias and lavender. Princess Diana’s sons William and Harry commissioned the statue back in 2017. The author of the sculpture was the Briton Rank-Broadley.

On the night of August 31, 1997, Diana, at the age of 36, tragically died in a car accident in Paris.

How severe will the drought be in July and which regions will it cover?

Traditionally, the wettest month of summer is July in 2021, which will be very sunny and dry in many regions of the country. Such a drought over the past half century has occurred no more than once every 9-10 years. This is reported by the weather center “Phobos”.

Where will the drought be?

According to long-term forecasts of weather forecasters, the drought will come to Moscow and the central regions of European Russia.

How much precipitation will fall?

In the region, no more than 20-30% of the monthly precipitation norm will fall (in July-94 mm). In the north-west of Central Russia, a complete absence of rain is predicted in the second summer month.

A similar situation with a drought in July over the past 55 years has been six times. In 1972, only 16 mm of precipitation fell, in 1992-23.3 mm, in 1997-6 mm, in 2002-23.8 mm, in 2010-12 mm, and in 2014-4 mm.

The number of clear days in July 2021 will be 2-3 times higher than the average values typical for the middle of summer.

What will be the temperature in July 2021?

For most of July, the temperature in Central Russia will be 0.5-1 degrees higher than long-term values (the average temperature in July in Moscow is 19.2). The only exception will be the middle of the month, when the temperature background will correspond to the climatic norm (for July 16 in the capital, 19.3%).

What will the weather be like in Moscow this week?

On Thursday and Friday, July 1 and 2, it will be a couple of degrees warmer in the capital after a slight cold snap against the background of thunderstorms at the beginning of the week. According to the forecast of Phobos, the temperature during the day will be +23 & hellip;+25°, at night – +17…+19°, precipitation is not expected.

On the weekend of July 3 and 4, Moscow will warm up during the day to +26 & hellip;+28°, at night to +18…+19°. Weak thunderstorms may occur in some places.

With the beginning of a new week, on July 5, the atmosphere over Central Russia will finally calm down, and the rains with thunderstorms will stop.

The Cosby show. Comedian convicted of rape, has achieved the cancellation of the sentence

Activists of the #MeToo movement are in a slight shock. The first celebrity, whose verdict they considered their victory, is released. The court overturned the earlier verdict against the 83-year-old African-American comedian Bill Cosby.

“American Dad”

Cosby is a star of the first magnitude for American television. He began his career back in the 1960s, skillfully avoiding racial contradictions and trying to unite blacks and whites with his jokes. In 1965, having received the main role in the TV series “I am a spy”, Bill Cosby de facto became the first black star of American television.

In 1984, the comedy series “The Cosby Show” was released, which is called the most successful TV project of the 1980s in the United States. For his role as the head of a rich African-American family, Huxtable Cosby received the nickname “American Dad”.

During his career as an actor and musician, he was awarded several times the “Emmy”, “Golden Globe” and “Grammy” awards, and also became the owner of a star on the Hollywood “Walk of Fame”.

In the late 1990s, after his son was killed by a street robber, Cosby began to devote a lot of time to public activities, advocating for the empowerment of African Americans and helping the poor.

Civil claim for 3.4 million

The comedian’s positive image began to collapse in the early 2000s, when former athlete and friend of Cosby Andrea Constand she accused him of rape. According to the lady, she came to Cosby for advice, and he offered her a drink, after which Andrea lost consciousness. Taking advantage of her helpless state, the comedian raped her.

There was clearly not enough evidence against Cosby, and then the prosecutor offered him a deal: admitting some facts in exchange for refusing to prosecute. Having made such a deal, the comedian admitted that he bought sleeping pills for women with whom he planned to have sex.

In 2006, as part of a civil lawsuit, Cosby agreed to pay Constand $ 3.4 million, where this story, as it seemed at the time, ended.

The #MeToo campaign brought her back to life. Constand demanded a new trial, citing the fact that Cosby went unpunished and continues to act as a positive example for many. The woman demanded to send the rapist to jail.

Three strange rapes

Here it should be noted that: the comedian’s love affairs were not a secret for his colleagues. Cosby has not missed a single skirt since the 1960s, when fame came to him. But he insisted that his relationships with women were purely voluntary. As for the drugs, the ladies, according to him, took them voluntarily.

You don’t have to believe him, of course, but there’s something wrong with Constand, too. The woman was constantly confused in her testimony, and then she generally declared that she was a lesbian, and she was not interested in men. At the same time, according to her, she came to Cosby at least three times, each time he gave her sleeping pills, after which he raped her.

Public opinion is divided. Some believed the victim, others twisted their finger at the temple, explaining that only an idiot would go to the rapist three times, knowing what he was doing to her.

Will sit

When the story began to unfold again, dozens of other ladies with whom Cosby had crossed paths over the years of his career began to talk. They all told about the same thing: the artist lured them to him, gave them sleeping pills, and then raped them. However, for other episodes, Cosby could not be charged with anything due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. So it all came down to considering the story with Constand.

In September 2018, the #MeToo movement achieved its goal: Cosby was sentenced to 3 to 10 years in prison for three episodes of rape.

While the activists cheered, calling the verdict a triumph of justice, the comedian did not give up. He said that he does not consider himself guilty and will fight for his release.

Comedian’s Revenge

On June 23, 2020, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that Cosby could appeal the verdict, based on the fact that the victims ‘ testimony is more biased than evidence. In addition, the court agreed to consider the episode with the promise of the prosecutor not to bring him to criminal responsibility in 2005.

A year later, on June 30, 2021, it was Cosby’s turn to triumph. The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania overturned the guilty verdict and decided to immediately release the artist.

The court decided that the basis of the comedian’s accusation was his own testimony given during a deal with the prosecutor in exchange for release from criminal prosecution. The new prosecutor, who considered himself free from the obligations given earlier by his predecessor, did not have the right to take this step. There was no other convincing evidence that Cosby used drugs for rape.

& laquo;Always defended his innocence»

The comedian himself wrote on his page on the social network: “I have never changed my position or my story. I have always maintained my innocence. Thank you to all my fans, supporters and friends who supported me in this challenge. Special thanks to the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania for upholding the rule of law.

Supporters of the #MeToo movement are outraged by Cosby’s release, but, objectively speaking, their own tactics are letting them down. The desire to support any charges, even those with a frankly weak evidence base, compromises the fighters against sexual violence. There have been a lot of cases in recent years when the accusations are frankly far-fetched and not supported by facts. The audience began to get tired of this. The defense of Cosby tried to get away from emotions and operate only with legal tools. This, in fact, led to the release of the comedian.

Although it is not a fact that Cosby would have succeeded in defending himself if he had been white. And so in this story, figuratively speaking, the #MeToo campaign overlapped with the BLM, which led to the mutual elimination of public messages and the study of exclusively facts that worked in favor of Cosby.

It is unknown whether the 83-year-old comedian will return to active activity. But he clearly has more than enough material for new performances now.
