A resident of Tyumen won a case of moral damage due to a post on Instagram

A resident of Tyumen won a case of moral damage due to the publication of stories on Instagram, the press service of the Tyumen Regional Court reported.

It is noted that this is the first such case in Russian judicial practice. The court ordered the plaintiff’s ex-wife to post a denial in her account and not delete it within a day, as well as pay him five thousand rubles.

It follows from the case file that the couple divorced in 2019 on the initiative of his wife. In February 2020, a woman told on her Instagram that her ex-husband was allegedly trying to evict her and her children from the apartment and take away the car. According to her, the ex-spouse also does not pay alimony, and during the marriage lived at her expense.

The man eventually sued his ex-wife with a demand to refute information discrediting his honor and dignity. He wanted the woman to write down a rebuttal and not delete it for a year. In addition, the plaintiff demanded compensation in the amount of 30 thousand rubles.

At first, the Tyumen District court did not support the man, so he appealed to a higher instance. The Russian provided income certificates, bank checks for the payment of alimony. He also proved that he made mortgage payments and paid for kindergarten.

“The Board of Civil Cases of the Tyumen Regional Court overturned the decision of the district court and partially satisfied the plaintiff’s claims,” the court said in a statement.
