Belgium extradited to the Russian Federation the accused in the attack on the Chechen school in 1996

Belgium has extradited to the Russian side a citizen who is accused of an armed attack on a school in Chechnya in 1996, said the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Irina Volk.

The crime occurred in the spring of 1996 in one of the educational institutions of the village of Geldagan of the Chechen Republic. According to the investigation, the accused Ali Ozdamirov learned about the admission to the school of a large amount of money intended for the payment of scholarships and salaries. Having decided to steal money, he created an armed group.

On the eve of the receipt of the money, the accomplices entered the school building and hid there. In the morning, they opened random shooting in the room and stole more than 40 million rubles. As a result, several people were injured.

Almost all the participants of the attack were detained. They were subsequently sentenced to long terms of imprisonment. Ozdamirov escaped from law enforcement agencies, he was put on the wanted list through Interpol channels.

Also, a Russian citizen Ekaterina Kholodkova was extradited from Belgium, accused of illegally organizing and conducting gambling games in Voronezh. The woman was a member of a criminal community, which from 2015 to 2019 managed to extract income in the amount of more than 21 million rubles.
