In Russia, on Monday, August 2, the country’s Airborne Troops (Airborne forces) celebrate the 91st anniversary of their foundation. On the Day of the Airborne Troops, paratroopers organize demonstrations and demonstrate weapons and equipment that they are armed with. Also on this day, paratroopers have a tradition to wear their blue berets with vests and meet with their comrades in city parks.
The history of the Airborne Forces began in 1930, when on August 2, 1930, an air landing from volunteers of the 11th aviation Brigade landed near Voronezh at the exercises of the Air Force of the Moscow Military District, which became the day of the foundation of this kind of troops. The Airborne Forces Day was established as a memorable day by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation of May 31, 2006 “On the establishment of professional holidays and memorable days in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation”.
