A strong fire is raging in Bodrum. The fire, which the firefighters manage to bring under control for some time, flares up again due to strong winds. Local residents and tourists are being evacuated.
According to the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of Turkey Bekir Pakdemirli, 129 forest fires have been extinguished in Turkey in recent days, while nine fires have not been brought under control, including in the resort provinces of Antalya and Mugla. As the head of the Ministry of Health of the republic Fahrettin Koca said on Sunday, the number of people killed in forest fires in Turkey has increased to eight, the victims – up to 864. The Turkish authorities admit the version that the fires in the country could have been deliberately arranged.
