What is known about the hospitalization of Queen Elizabeth II and her condition?

Elizabeth II visited the private clinic of King Edward VII in central London for examination on Wednesday evening, October 20. According to the newspaper The Sun, the queen’s condition did not cause concern, and she had to stay in the hospital overnight in order to avoid a late trip from the capital to Windsor (about 40 km).

Buckingham Palace reported that the monarch was discharged from the clinic on Thursday morning, October 21. At noon she returned to Windsor Castle and was already working with documents at her desk. Representatives of the Queen noted that she is “in a good mood”. According to sources of The Daily Mail, the visit to the clinic was a precautionary measure. Next week, Elizabeth II has several events planned at once and it is expected that she will not miss them.

What is known about the health of Queen Elizabeth II?

The visit to the hospital followed the unexpected cancellation of Elizabeth II’s official visit to Northern Ireland, which occurred less than a day before the trip. Then it was reported that doctors advised the monarch to “rest for a few days” and refuse to travel. “The Queen reluctantly accepted the doctor’s advice to rest for the next few days. Her Majesty is in a good mood, but she is upset that she will not be able to visit Northern Ireland, where she was supposed to hold several events,” Buckingham Palace said at the time.

The last time the Queen stayed overnight in the hospital was in March 2013 due to an upset stomach. In total, over the past 40 years, she has been in the hospital only five times.

Over the past three weeks, Elizabeth II has taken part in 14 official events. On some of them, she first appeared with a cane for the last 20 years. In 2003 and 2004, she was also seen with a cane, but then the need for support was associated with knee surgery.
