There are mandatory chipping and an electronic data bank, in which information about each animal is entered: name, chip number, vaccinations, owner. “There is an initiative to replenish the data bank with information about dogs obtained from a DNA test. With the help of this, they want to identify owners who do not clean up after their animals (up to 500 kg of dog waste remains on the streets of Tel Aviv every month. —& nbsp;Ed.). Then there are people who want to do an analysis of excrement and compare it with what is in the database in order to issue a fine, says Marina Eingor, president of the International Association of Veterinarians and Microbiologists, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. I don’t believe that the bill will pass: DNA analysis is too expensive.
