Joint naval exercises of Russia, Iran and China and in the Indian Ocean will begin on Friday, January 21, the ISNA news agency writes with reference to the press service of the Iranian army.

According to reports, various types of maneuvers will be practiced during military events, in particular, the rescue of a burning ship, the release of a captured vessel and target shooting. 

The purpose of the exercises is to strengthen the security of international trade routes, combat piracy and maritime terrorism, as well as exchange experience.The joint exercises “Maritime Security Belt 2022” will be the third joint naval exercises of the three countries.

Three ships of the Pacific Fleet have already arrived at the Iranian port of Chahbehar to participate in the maneuvers. A detachment of ships went on a long voyage from Vladivostok a few days before the onset of 2022.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry told details about joint exercises with Belarus, which are scheduled for the period from February 10 to 20.
