Manturov: Russia will create hydrogen turbines for power generation in 5-6 years

Russia will start creating hydrogen turbines over the next five to six years to convert part of the electricity generation to hydrogen. Denis Manturov, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, said this during a meeting of the Russian-Italian Council for economic, industrial, monetary and financial cooperation.

He invited Italian companies to take part in the implementation of Russian eco-projects. Manturov said he was aware of Italy’s ambitious plans for the development and practical application of hydrogen technologies.

“We are also forming a corresponding reserve: prototypes of hydrogen buses have been created in Russia and we plan to start mass production of commercial vehicles using this energy carrier already in 2023,” TASS quotes the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Earlier it was reported that more than 9 billion rubles will be allocated for the development of hydrogen energy in Russia. Deputy Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Pavel Sorokin suggested that hydrogen production in Russia will become profitable in 10-12 years.
