Russia has developed a technology for “recreating” dreams

Russian scientists have developed a technology for “recreating” dreams with the help of a neural headset, reports RT with reference to the press service of the Platform of the National Technology Initiative (NTI).

It is reported that the brain-computer interface has already been developed, using electroencephalography and neural networks.

According to scientists, in 2025, people will be able to record their own dreams with the help of a neural headset.

As noted by Vladimir Konyshev, a participant of NeuroNet NTI, head of the laboratory of neurorobotonics at MIPT, people dream in the REM phase, accompanied by high brain activity. You probably won’t be able to recreate them in detail, but you will be able to determine the category of sleep: pleasant, unpleasant, nightmare, etc.

The NTI added that experiments in the field of recreating images that occur in the brain began in 2019. The participants were shown different videos and simultaneously recorded an electroencephalogram (EEG). As it turned out, the frequency characteristics of the EEG wave activity for different categories of rollers significantly differ. Then the participants were shown other videos on the same topic, and the neural network analyzed the EEG data and created frames from which it was possible to determine the category.

Earlier, scientists from Tambov State University reported that 40% of high school students have serious sleep disorders.

Studies have also been conducted on the brains of people who regularly drink coffee. Scientists have concluded that changes in the brain under the influence of caffeine are probably short-term.
