The court recognized the arrest of stand-up artist Mirzalizade for inciting hostility as lawful

The Moscow City Court rejected a complaint against the administrative arrest of stand-up comedian Idrak Mirzalizade, accused of inciting ethnic hatred.

The decision of the Tagansky court, which found the stand-up artist guilty of inciting hatred or enmity and sentenced him to 10 days of arrest, was recognized as legitimate, TASS reports.

The comedian did not admit guilt, but apologized to those whom he offended with his words. He said that he repents to the people who “misinterpreted” everything. Mirzalizadeh assured that he had no intention to offend anyone.

A video of his offensive statements, according to the prosecutor’s office and the court, was posted on one of the social networks.

According to the conducted linguistic and psychological research, the stand-up artist publicly made a statement that contained signs of humiliation of a group of people on a national basis and propaganda of its inferiority.
