The court in Tambov arrested the acting deputy head of the Tambov region Vladimir Gromov for two months, TASS reports.
The official is suspected of patronizing the theft of over 25 million rubles within the framework of the national project “Demography”.
Gromov was detained in early January, criminal cases were opened against him on abuse of official powers and their excess. He faces up to seven years in prison.
According to investigators, two years ago, a commercial company, which was patronized by the acting vice-governor, concluded 90 contracts with kindergartens for the supply of goods worth more than 25 million rubles. However, most of them have not yet been executed, the goods have not been delivered, but they have been paid in full.
