The court sentenced a native of Chechnya for a fight with a riot police fighter

The Tverskoy District Court of Moscow on August 19 sentenced a native of Chechnya, Sayd-Muhammad Dzhumaev (who later took the name Mikhail Markhiev) to five years in prison for a fight with a riot police soldier at an illegal rally on January 23 on Pushkin Square, TASS reports.

“The court sentenced Markhiev to five years in a general regime colony,” the press service of the court told the agency. They clarified that the court found the man guilty of three episodes of crimes under the article on the use of violence against a representative of the authorities.

According to the investigation, on January 23, Dzhumayev struck OMON officers and law enforcement officers with multiple punches and kicks. He tried to escape by illegally entering Latvia from the Pskov region, but was detained near the border. Later, the man was charged with committing two more similar episodes of crimes.

Recall that after an uncoordinated rally in Moscow on January 23, several criminal cases were opened on the facts of the use of violence against law enforcement officers, hooliganism, damage to the FSB car and blocking traffic. In total, about four thousand people took part in the illegal action, according to the police.
