The height of the ISS orbit will be raised to prepare for the launch of the Soyuz

The height of the ISS orbit will be adjusted on the afternoon of February 6 to form ballistic conditions for the launch of the Soyuz MS-21 manned spacecraft on March 18 and the landing of the Soyuz MS-19 on March 30, TASS reports.

This was reported to the agency’s correspondents in the press service of Roscosmos.

The engines of the Progress MS-18 cargo ship will be used to ensure correction.

It is expected that after the maneuver, the average altitude of the orbit of the space station will increase by 0.4 kilometers.

Currently, cosmonauts Anton Shkaplerov and Peter Dubrov, NASA astronauts Kayla Barron, Mark Vande Hai, Raja Chari and Tom Marshburn, as well as ESA astronaut Matthias Maurer are on the ISS.

Earlier, NASA suggested that the operation of the ISS may last until 2030, after which it will be flooded in the ocean in January 2031.
