The level of the Amur River exceeded the flood mark of 1984

The level of the Amur River near Blagoveshchensk on June 27 reached the flood mark of 1984, part of the stairs leading to the upper tier of the embankment was under water, a RIA Novosti correspondent reports.

It is specified that the water is already pouring over the railing. The wrought-iron parapet of the embankment continues to be covered with sandbags along its entire length. Meanwhile, some citizens continue to swim in the river, despite the prohibitions.

On Saturday, the level of the Amur River near Blagoveshchensk reached 837 cm and exceeded the figures of 2013.

In the flood zone in 16 localities, 388 residential buildings, 913 household plots were flooded, five automobile bridges were flooded. 13 localities were left without automobile communication. In total, since the beginning of the flood, 1,537 people, including 432 children, have been evacuated in the region, the regional State Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation reports.

In 2013, one of the largest floods occurred in the Amur region. Then the level of the Amur River near Blagoveshchensk reached 822 cm. Another major flood was observed in the middle of August 1984-the Amur River level was more than 8.5 meters.The river rose to the maximum in 1958 to 895 cm.

Earlier, an EMERCOM task force flew to the Far East to coordinate flood control.
