Why does the Earth need a “black box”?

In Australia, they want to build a giant recorder in case of a global climate catastrophe. Who will need it if the “end of the world” really happens?

On the coast of the Australian island of Tasmania, by the end of 2022, a structure will appear whose task is to record data on the last decades of human civilization in the event of a global climate catastrophe. It will be a giant steel box with walls 7.5cm thick. Data storage devices will be placed inside, recording information about changes in the level of co₂ in the Earth’s atmosphere, ocean acidification, etc.

“If there really is a collapse on Earth due to climate change, an indestructible device will allow those who remain to learn a lesson from what happened,” says Jim Curtis, one of the authors of the project.. — In addition, „the black box “ will become evidence of the responsibility of world leaders for what happened».

Data recording on hard drives has already started. The project has its own website where you can monitor what the Earth’s black box is currently recording.
