A solar sail and a heated jacket. How the Year of Science changes reality

Plot National projects

The year 2021, declared the Year of Science and Technology in Russia, brings practical results in the form of new breakthrough developments. And their authors are not venerable scientists, but students. To be precise, university graduates who have become participants in the “Startup as a diploma” program.

According to the rules of the program, students already participate in the creation of a real business during their studies and protect it before potential investors. This format of the thesis allows you to involve graduates of completely different areas in technological entrepreneurship: managers, programmers, biologists can be in the same team.

Electronic textiles that can be washed

Thus, Olavi Sikki, a master’s student of the Faculty of Technological Management and Innovation at ITMO University creates a startup for the production of “smart” functional textiles based on nano – and printed electronics technology. The young man aims to transform the market of sports, ski, tourist clothing, as well as workwear for working in cold conditions. Models of jackets and overalls already existing on the market with heating ortoo heavy, or not safe enough. And the new technology of electronic textiles allows you to remove these problems, because it does not use wires: the heating elements are safe and are printed on the fabric itself. The students have already created a new generation heated jacket and the same mittens. They can be washed and ironed.

In turn, & nbsp;Vladislav Ryabukhin, student of the Institute of Economics and Management of Tomsk State University develops a startup for the development and production of microbiological rapid tests for quality control in craft brewing. The difference between this industry is that enterprises prepare small batches of the product. Therefore, as a rule, they do not have their own laboratory. However, even a small infection with “extra” microorganisms can change the taste of the product. The student offered manufacturers a new method for quickly checking the quality of goods using microbiological rapid tests and packed it into a “boxed” solution.

Another TSU student — Kristina Klyueva & mdash; created & nbsp; & nbsp; a startup for the production of new ultralight and extra strong carbon-titanium frames for bicycles. After studying the market, Kristina found out that the production of bicycles with a carbon frame is very expensive (about 5 million rubles). Therefore, it was decided to divide the technological process: one attracted companyprepares carbon tubes, another-titanium nodes on a 3D printer, and the startup is responsible for the assembly.  & laquo; This will be a flexible production, the first in the Russian Federation. The prototype is already ready, there is a potential customer. According to the plans, an improved prototype will appear in a few months, we will launch production in a year or two, ” Kristina Klyueva said.

From ecocafe to railway diagnostics

Students of the Institute of Gastronomy of the Siberian Federal University develop an eco-cafe, the concept of which is based on conscious consumption: the rejection of single-use plastic, the most environmentally friendly materials in the interior and production. According to Victoria Vylkova, a participant of the startup, a 4th-year student of SFU,in high season, the cafe already receives 1-2 orders every minute. Undergraduates were involved in all stages of work: the purchase of equipment, furniture, dishes, interior design, employee search and marketing.

A & nbsp; students and researchers of the Southern Federal University create the system for diagnosing the technical condition of the railwayand we have already been able to receive the first venture investments for this project. According to Mark Denisenko, a leading researcher at the Design Center of the Microelectronic Component Base for Artificial Intelligence Systems of the Southern Federal University, the system is able to register and recognize defects in engineering structures: machines, mechanisms, technological equipment and structures. The development is based on artificial intelligence algorithms that will accelerate the transition to advanced digital production technologies at industrial enterprises in Russia.

The solar sail and its creator

Anastasia Khramtsova, a graduate of FEFU, the winner of the student online accelerator “Startup as a Diploma”, is working on the Solar Sail project, which will perform the task of approaching small satellites in low Earth orbit. The second iteration of the design of the sail opening system has already been developed, its prototype was made using a 3D printer. Together with the Institute of Automation and Control Processes of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the material of the sail was determined. The satellite boards have been developed and ordered with the grant funds, which will allow controlling the device in orbit. Work is underway to prepare for the launch of the device with on-board systems to test them in real operational conditions. Byafter the successful completion of the mission, these boards will be used for the solar sail spacecraft. Anastasia admits that she completely immerses herself in all her projects: she wakes up and goes to bed with the idea of how to solve a particular problem. And she, like other Russian young scientists, succeeds in this, among other things, thanks to the national project “Science and Universities”. One of its key tasks is to increase the share of young researchers in Russia up to 39 years: today, young scientists receive grants and the opportunity to work on the most advanced equipment, head laboratories.

The year 2021, declared the Year of Science and Technology in Russia, has a gradation by month. June, according to the plan, is the month of new production technologies and materials. Young engineers and scientists develop and apply new fabrics, alloys and polymers. Within the framework of the national project “Science and Universities”, scientificworld-class centers (NCMU) and centers of competence of the Scientific and Technological Initiative (NTI), which carry out research on the priorities of scientific and technological development of the country. All together, this gives a start in life and a powerful start to talented students and young scientists, whose idea is already moving forward scientific progress before our eyes.
