Enroll online. Cadet schools will be recruited remotely due to COVID-19

In connection with the coronavirus pandemic, the Russian Defense Ministry has changed the rules for applicants entering Suvorov, Nakhimov and presidential cadet schools. All departmental pre-university educational institutions will be recruited remotely. This was done in order to protect the children from infection as much as possible.

In what time frame

Due to the difficult epidemiological situation and at the request of parents, the deadlines for submitting documents were also extended in 2021. According to the military department, future pupils of pre-university educational organizations of the Russian Ministry of Defense will undergo remote entrance tests from July 1 to 15. This technique was already tested last year, then for the first time all the necessary documents were allowed to be sent to the e-mail of educational institutions. The deadline for submitting personal files in 2020 was limited to July 1.

How will they accept it?

The military department said that exams in Russian and foreign languages, as well as in mathematics, will be held in schools via video communication. For testing, a single electronic database of questions for conducting interviews has been created on the basis of the School’s learning management system. During the interview, they come automatically with a unique code to connect to the video conference. Before the start of the entrance test, each candidate will be sent a unique code to connect to his phone number. This will exclude the possibility of connecting other people to the exam. The formation of the task variant for each candidate occurs automatically, without human participation. This will exclude the possibility of transferring answer options from region to region and between the parents of candidates.

According to this system, teachers will evaluate their knowledge of Russian and foreign languages, as well as mathematics. Standards for physical training will be set based on the grades received at the school. In addition, a test to determine psychological readiness for training in a military structure will be conducted remotely. All incoming responses will be recorded using a video recording, which will be saved in the database in case of disputes.

Exit commissions

This year, the military will also continue the practice of using field admissions committees, when teachers of educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense go to various regions of Russia and there organize the recruitment of Suvorov, Nakhimov and cadets from well-trained local boys and girls. The ministry said that this summer, for example, additional visiting admissions committees of boarding schools of pupils of the Russian Ministry of Defense will be sent to Vladivostok, Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad, Krasnodar, Novosibirsk and Samara.

Who can enroll?

Currently, there are 7 presidential cadet schools, 9 cadet corps, 11 Suvorov schools and 5 Nakhimov naval schools in the secondary education system of the Ministry of Defense. Children under the age of 11 in grades 5 and teenagers aged 15-16 who have graduated from the 8th grade can enroll in the Suvorov School. In addition to age, the candidate must belong to health group I or II, have sufficient physical fitness and nothave mental disorders. This year, according to the Ministry of Defense, about 8000 candidates have been admitted to the entrance tests.

Also, this year, recruitment to higher military educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense will be carried out without the arrival of cadets to the university. Special visiting groups from all higher military educational institutions will be sent to the regions. They will select candidates on the basis of military commissariats of the subjects of the Russian Federation.
