To protect forests from fires, the regions will be allocated 8 billion rubles from the federal budget every year. The corresponding instruction was given by President Vladimir Putin following the results of the second stage of the XX Congress of the All-Russian Political Party “United Russia” . During the operational meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov He said that an additional 24 billion rubles will be allocated for measures to protect natural complexes until 2024.
“The total amount of subventions to the regions for the exercise of powers in the field of forest relations next year will amount to about 41 billion rubles, “he said.” Of these, about 14 billion rubles will be allocated to the regions for the prevention and control of forest fires next year. Such a decision will allow to bring the financing of the subjects to the regulatory level. The funds will primarily be used for the prevention and control of fires in the most burning regions of the Far Eastern and Siberian Federal Districts.
According to Borisov, at the expense of additional funds, the regions will increase the number of parachute fire services by almost 1,400 people, will receive 35 units of aviation equipment and will acquire new devices for monitoring and extinguishing fires. All this will allow you to find and prevent fires on an area not exceeding 200 hectares.
“The scale of the fires that occurred this year and the analysis of their causes suggest a revision of approaches to their prevention, methods of extinguishing, methods and amounts of funding,” believes First Deputy Chairman of the Central Council of the All-Russian Society for Nature Protection Elmurod Rasulmukhamedov. This is interdepartmental, interregional and federal work at all levels. And Russia’s involvement in the climate agenda at the highest level requires attention to the issue of the president himself.
Elmurod Rasulmukhamedov also hopes that the allocated funds will be used not only to increase the number and additional equipment of old samples, but also to update the technologies of prevention, early detection, localization and extinguishing of fires.
