Flights resumed in Sheremetyevo after a thunderstorm

The capital’s Sheremetyevo Airport suspended the departure of aircraft due to bad weather on June 28, but the restrictions have already been lifted, Anna Zakharenkova, director of public Relations at the enterprise, told RIA Novosti.

According to the interlocutor of the agency, due to the strongest thunderstorm activity in the area of Sheremetyevo Airport, 30 flights were delayed for departure, delays ranged from 20 to 40 minutes. “Two flights, by the decision of the aircraft commanders, went to a spare airfield,” Zakharenkova added.

The restrictions were lifted after the storm front passed.

“Now the airport provides scheduled maintenance of aircraft and passengers for departure and arrival,” the agency interlocutor said.

On June 28, the capital region was in the center of an active cyclone, showers with thunderstorms passed in Moscow.

Earlier, the Hydrometeorological Center extended the orange level of weather danger in Moscow and the Moscow region due to the heat. During the week, the capital broke four temperature records.
