Green nurseries. VOOP and ” AIF ” initiated the restoration of burned forests

On August 11, a press conference was held at the publishing house “Arguments and Facts”, at which representatives of the All-Russian Society for Nature Protection (VOOP), the ID “AIF”, the Federal Forestry Agency (Rosleskhoz) and a team of UN agencies in Russia announced the launch and support of the project “Green Nurseries of Russia” for the restoration of burning forests.

“The present and future of the planet Earth depends on each of us. We must take care of nature and the environment in order to pass on the wealth of Russia to our children and grandchildren. What is happening with Russian forests today is unacceptable. It will take enormous efforts to restore what was lost. This should be a systematic work, we need a mechanism for forest restoration, ” said in his speechVyacheslav Fetisov, Chairman of the EPO, UN Goodwill Ambassador, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. Currently, there are not enough nurseries in the country, nor their capacities for growing seedlings on an industrial scale. In this regard, the All-Russian Society for Nature Protection takes the initiative to create green nurseries in the regions of Russia on the basis of a public-private partnership.

“Images are already being published from space, where the smoke extends from the North Pole to Lake Baikal. Therefore, we could not but support the proposal of the All-Russian Society for the creation of green nurseries, ” noted in his speechAdviser to the General Director of JSC “AIF”, head of the information part of the project “Ecology of Russia” Nikolay Tereshchenko. Since 2017, our publishing house has implemented several hundred information projects on ecology: on garbage reform, and rescued killer whales in the Far East, and participated in the action “Garden of Memory” last year and this year, and many others. And in the last two years, we have already acted not only as an environmental mouthpiece, but also as an organizer of projects. Just a couple of weeks ago, we completed the “Green Yard” project with the Greenway company, we planted trees and flower beds in courtyards in 10 cities of Russia from Irkutsk to Makhachkala. Right now, together with the authorities and business of the Tyumen regionWe are engaged in a project to restore the ecosystem of a unique Salt lake in the Berdyuzhsky district. In the project “Green Nurseries of Russia”, our regional editorial offices will accept initial applications from nature reserves, nature reserves and forestry, voice them publicly, and then transfer them to the VOOP for examination and preparation for further actions. And, of course, we will exercise information control over the implementation of the project and contribute as much as possible to its promotion at all levels.

Deputy Head of the Federal Forestry Agency Alexander Panfilov He noted that the creation of green nurseries in the regions of Russia will contribute to the implementation of the national project “Ecology”. Today, nurseries can meet the needs of 700 million units of planting material per year. The task for 2024 is 900 million units. But clearly more is needed. “Therefore, the creation of new green nurseries and the restoration of existing ones is a timely step,” the speaker noted.

Vladimir Kuznetsov, Director of the UN Information Center in Moscow, Chairman of the team of UN agencies in Russia He called the proposal of the EPO consonant with the UN climate agenda: “It is difficult to overestimate the work of the All-Russian Society for Nature Protection on international platforms. Public participation in reforestation is very important. There is a long way ahead, and our UN team in Russia is ready to contribute in every possible way to the initiatives announced today by Vyacheslav Fetisov.

Continuing the topic of the press conference, Vyacheslav Fetisov invited all interested persons, public organizations and business structures to cooperate within the framework of the project: “I hope for the signing of cooperation agreements, for the unification of structures, of which there are many in the country, but there is no consistency. In the USSR, there was a whole forest branch of the national economy, the status of a forester in the past yearshe was extremely tall. Now we have a lot of problems: there are not enough people and equipment, the powers transferred to the regions are not always confirmed by money, there is no public control. I sincerely believe that it is now necessary to create a Ministry of Forestry in Russia with the powers of law enforcement agencies. Otherwise, we will all burn down: fires are already approaching the cities.

Answering questions from journalists, all participants of the press conference repeatedly stressed the importance of systematic interaction between the government, business, society and the media to solve the large-scale task of forest restoration in Russia. Moreover, as experts noted, for business, participation in such projects will also mean earning additional points in the decarbonization of the economy, which is being talked about at all levels today. In other words, such projects also have a direct business sense on the international economic agenda.
