Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu held a telephone conversation with his American counterpart Lloyd Austin, the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry reports.
The ministry noted that Shoigu and Austin discussed the results of bilateral consultations on strategic stability. In addition, they touched upon issues of global and regional security.
The first face-to-face round of Russian-American consultations on strategic stability in 2021 took place on July 28 in Geneva. The delegation of the Russian Federation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, US First Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman.
In the USA, the past consultations were called professional and informative. The parties agreed to meet again at the end of September to discuss strategic stability.
