Irina Galkina: Large families need state support

The coordinator of the Association of Large Families of the capital in the South-Eastern District, Irina Galkina, supported the statement of the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, Pyotr Tolstoy, that all children, regardless of the financial situation of their parents, should have access to high-quality summer recreation.

According to Galkina, the organization appealed to the working group, which is headed by Peter Tolstoy, with a proposal to restore the status of a large family.

“I hope they will hear us and a positive decision will be made,” said Irina Galkina.

The representative of the organization stressed that today not every family can send children to a summer camp. The initiative of the head of state Vladimir Putin on a 50% cashback on vacation is timely, but this will not be able to solve all the problems if there are more than two children in the family. “If there are five children in a family, and there are no vouchers cheaper than 40 thousand rubles, imagine what amount should be in the hands of the parents,” the social activist said.

Galkina added that the words of President Vladimir Putin, Chairman of the EP Dmitry Medvedev and Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Pyotr Tolstoy about the need to pay special attention to large families inspire optimism.

She recalled that at the moment, only low-income families can claim benefits. If the family income is at least a little more than the subsistence minimum, state support is not provided.

Earlier, Peter Tolstoy called on the authorities of the Russian regions to organize children’s summer holidays at a high level, to make it high-quality and safe.
